Maybe, maybe not... You can always turn a song into something... Let's take an example: Lucy In The Sky With Diamond (Beatles - Lennon), people thought it was about LSD, but Lennon said it was his child who made a drawing that was called Lucy In The Sky With Diamond. That's where he got the idea from! Who knows...

Yes - this is what he Means..... The band of gold is like a noose - He has had enough...

He is backing his suitcase & leaving.

Yeah. That makes sense too.

Aloha !

That was the best analysation from a song I've ever read ! My compliments. I think there's a truth in it. We do not where the inspiration from some songs come from. And this story could be true.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Very interesting intepretation of the lyrics.

This one is my favorite track from the DA album. It's 11 PM here and right now i'm listening to this song. For some reason i've always found this song to be very relaxing and pleasent to my ears, everything is perfect on this one, Jon's vocals, the keyboard, the guitar, the whole mood of the songs just makes me want to relax and meditate.

I would really love to see Jon perform this one again on his next solo tour since it's very easy to sing and imo this song would really fit into an intimate show like Jon likes to do.

Really interesting point of view! It's in some way the angle that I also interpret A Teardrop To The Sea.

A pity that they only played the song live once since it's also one of my favourites from the album:

Never thought of this song that way before.

Always nice to see old threads resurrected as well.

After having given this some further thoughts I was also certain that Jon had been writing about the era from the final shows of the New Jersey tour up until his grey summer in 1991 and his confusion about where to go in the future back then.

Now Chris (Faceman) brought up his theory that this song is about Jon dealing with his own confusion as to whether follow the path of acting, solo albums or the band in the mid-90's. There are pretty much spot-on interpretations for both theories. Never thought that this song would give so much room for speculations.
