I agree! funny thing is that I am a big Paul Rodgers fan and love his bands free and bad company and when I listen to whitesnake I really hear how much free and bad co influenced them.

It always reminded me more of a Clapton song than Whitesnake but now you mention it I can sort of hear that. The review pretty much echoed my own thoughts on the album although like many I would have marked Rosie a little higher. I agree that River Of Love is the worst song on the album and far from showcasing Richie's voice I think it shows a lack of subtlety. He just seems to shout all the way through the song, I think his vocals improved a lot on the second album when there was more variation and subtlety. I think he said himself that on the 1st album he was belting out the songs a little too much at times and I think he reined his voice in a little to good effect on Undiscovered Soul.

It's a brilliant album though, up there with my favourites of all time.

Ballad Of Youth was always one of my favourite songs from that album, I'm surprised people here seem to be pretty indifferent about that one. Awesome album anways, in the top 3 of BJ related albums.

Stranger In This Town is an amazing album. Unlike most people though, I never really cared for The Answer. However, all the rest, especially Father Time, are pure genius. I love Richie's vocals and his guitar playing.

The thing I love most about Stranger is the vocals. I know this has been talked about before, and most people seem to think he improved on US, but I've always thought his vocals on that were a bit bland.

To me, River Of Love is sung exactly like it should be...I don't know how to explain it really, but I love how he belts it out.

You may check both verses Church of Desire and Is this love by Whitesnake. They're very similar in melody and mood. But that's only my opinion.

Great Review btw.
