I've got an magazine interview where Richie says he used some of his old Charvels on some of the tracks, he doesn't say which tracks though. I've always guessed at it being one wild night because its the most 80's style song on the album. I've always pictured she's a mystery as being played on a strat too.
I got the girl, the solo was played on a tele, if I remember correctly.

Are you recalling a magazine interview with guitar one magazine? I THINK that was the one, it might have had Prince on the cover. I've been trying to track it down forever.

Cool, never thought of that, but I guess it can be true.
Talking 'bout guitars, I think I read somewhere in this forum that Dry County solo was done with a Les Paul, is that true?
I've always thought of that and KTF (song) as the ultimate Strat Jovi songs

I might have to think twice, as celine dion sung haha

You can see Richie playing the solo on a tele on the BJTV sessions for Crush. I'll watch it some time to see what else I can pick out.

Better find my magnifying glass to look at it again
Maybe my "theory" Strat + Les Paul = Brillant Jovi is wrong?

I don't think it's flat out wrong, per se. I definetely prefer the tones of the songs where he's using them though.

I agree. I think that's what I'm missing on HAND. It's just a bunch of big fat walls of guitar, no signaturesound. Like HAND (song), it's hard to hear that it's a tele, the dobbelneck. It doesn't sound Tele at all!
It's almost impossible to hear what kind of guitar he's using. I know he has his own signaturebrand now, but still. It's just big walls of fat guitars!
That one of the reasons HAND didn't satisfy me completely althought there are atleast some great ideas for good songe on it

Dry County solo with a LP? Unlikely - unless he has one with a trem fitted cos the first phrase features intermittent whammy bar dives whilst trilling.

Surely the guitar Richie uses to play a song live bears no direct relation to what it was recorded with. I heard he's fond of using vintage instruments in the studio but the signature strats and most Les Pauls he uses live are unlikely to be the same 'vintage' gear he uses in the recording of the albums.

To be honest, the reason he's probably dumped the strats and LPs and gone with his own brand, Andersons etc., is probably just cos he's got shitloads of them in his collection and he wants to try something different - he's a guitar whore!!

Mind you, when you've got the money he has to splash out on music equipment, why would you just stick with one or two brands/models?

Richie has sure used a lots of guitar, that's for sure, but what I'm saying/asking is that he simply make better songs with a Strat or Les Paul, how weird it may seem.

About the Dry County solo, it was simply something i THINK i read here, I don't believe it myself

And try something new?
Why would anybody change from the best guitars? I'm just kidding, but I mean. Many uses a brand a whole carrier. Gilmour IS a Strat haha (although he uses lots of "new" guitars on On An Island).
Well enough about that.

Wish for Lost Highways: Use Telecasters like you're mad!
