The guitar work is the best thing about it....lyrics sound like they were written in about 3 minutes.

One of my favourites from the boxset, it does sound similar to Tokyo Road but I like both songs.

As someone else mentioned, the guitar in this song is great!! Love the vocals too.

Me too - I can understand why it wasn't put on an album though. I think Jon said that song was where they had been - not where they were going.

First time I heard it I thought it sounded more like a New Jersey era song than anything else ... perhaps thats what he meant?

I sort of understand that but as I understand it was written for Keep The Faith and the lyrics would suggest that. I think there are worse songs on Keep The Faith than Taking It Back, Women In Love is a prime example. I think this song and Starting All Over Again if they were polished up and properly recorded would have made decent additions to that album. Admittedly though they're not of the same standard as In These Arms, Keep The Faith, Dry County, Bed Of Roses and I Believe.

I don't think Taking It Back is one of their best to be honest. It is a good Rock song granted, but with the exception of Bon Jovi and Farenheit, I don't believe it's good enough to have appeared on any of their albums. It is a good addition to a box-set though, something different
