uh .. maybe just me and don't laugh for me being stupid but didnt they tried that with TLFR?? not just a standard greatest hits (crossroad 2)
You know, I had the SAME thought not long ago. Do we really WANT them to go back and re-record these songs? They tend to butcher themselves with remakes (Prayer 94, This Left Feels Right, the rewritten Love Is a Four Letter Word).

LMAO Please no!!!! No more TLFR!!! :P

nah if any other compilation a proper full live show from the TD tour, so no edition .. less effort and a good cd at least they are able to choose the right show.

I have to agree with the first post, Jon's voice is not getting any better, and i think he don't even realize it. He traded his great voice for a great look instead. Maybe its just going away after years of singing and screaming like he did, but alot of singers still sing well after the same time as him. I dont think anybody here can answer this question except if Jon is here , wich I doubt highly lol

by the way, for the people bashing on the boxset and not having too much efforts and stuff, why do you all need to be so pessimistic??? its a great box, and i think its good to hear what they have wrote over the years that we never got to listen. Im not saying its coming right down from heaven, and i wont listen to it everyday, but its a great collection item!!!

I do think that no band has put great effort into any box release. And I do think that most of those are cashing-in releases. I've been only saying in contrast to majority that Jovi's box isn't a dream come true, it's only a release filled with songs they once found useless. Now, since they are in it for making money (even if every one on those 10000000000 fans they claim to have doesn't buy it) they're gonna make lotsa cash with it. All this with songs *they* once thought weren't good enough to be released.

Career & number of albums sold. And where excactly I suggested that they should feel ashamed of that? BUT, I don't enjoy seeing them bragging about it either.

Re-recording songs.....got trouble reading? I already said that even if would have been act of putting effort to it, it would have turned into disaster. I'd still would be interested to hear couple of them old songs recorded & produced to sound like Jovi is today. By no means not all of them, and nothing TLFR-style.

Price. I never said a thing about the price, but, yes it's affordable. Tho from my point of view most value comes from filling ones collection. Have to add, for its price u get plenty of songs, so price is more or less right.

You guys love 'em no matter what they release, it's your right to. That doesn't appear as people like them because of music but what the hell. I have different opinion from the majority, sorry but your gonna have to deal with it as long as there isn't a rule saying "Only majority-approved opinion allowed" in JT.

That they thought they weren't good enough doesn't mean they really aren't. And it is the meaning and purpose of unreleased demos that they are leftovers. I as a fan like to hear them nonetheless, to make me a picture of what concerned them at times, what made them write/record what they did and what made them release this or that, or not.
That they are leftovers doesn't mean they are equally useless all the same. You know, it's this negativity that I disagree with.
Even you will admit that there are quite a few really good songs on it that excel more recent stuff easily.
Cashing-in releases, duh, I can't hear it anymore. Don't buy it if you don't want to give them your money. Every release is to cash in to an extent.
But such a brilliant box (and no, this doesn't mean it is the best thing ever) is also a great anniversary item. Others do just a repackaging of their discography. How cool.

You know, that's the difference. I see it as being proud and you as bragging. I just cannot see how anyone who apparently likes their music, can say all they do is money-driven and is bragging about how much they already cashed in.

What for? To bash around again how miserably they failed?

Not exactly you.....got trouble reading?

I chose to love them beyond their music, that's right. I don't think all they do is heaven-sent. I think there were better hits around the recent years than what came from Jovi. But still, the over-all-experience stands the test of time. The attitude this band puts across is what I like. They managed to survive their most glorious superstardom and became an icon. They don't need to prove themselves every single day. They are still truthfully and real in my book.

Oh and Stone, I deal with it, don't be afraid. But isn't it nice to disagree in a decent way?

Even if I disagree with u & your views on them, I still respect the way u lay out *your* reasons for loving 'em. Not that this will matter, I still state out that u just pointed out that ur not one of them blind ones.

disagreeing.....*good* argument is always good. It most of times helps both parties to widen ones view.

Yes, there are couple of way better ones than recent releaces. ANYTHING is better than TLFR or AALY. I never liked their cheesy-pop-ballad stuff, and never will. Box set does kinda show that they are more of a pop than rock band. And its a shame because when they used to rock, they for sure rocked.

As said times and times again.....things getting personal aint that good. and yes, I've been quilty of that time and time again as has most of people. To defend ones views is a personal matter, and often takes it "over-the-top". But what the hell, it's the content that counts aint it.

I see very few posts from people who like "everything" they do. Seeing more positive than negative in a release doesn't make a person blind. Most of the people who have responded in this thread have made it clear that there are aspects and things the band have done that they don't like.

Yeah! This topic has a big sense...

Just listen An evening with Bon Jovi: Keep the faith famous MTV live performance from 1992... that was like a rainbow, and today his voice sounds like a parking lot.

But hey, people... the years roll on... tired voices have all gone

Name the one single artist who kept his original voice from his younger years... everybody goes down at some point...

I don't think I did that very well. The timing of the post right after the Borgata performance made it seem like it was a direct reaction to it. It wasn't. The Borgata performance was vocally an improvement on Jon's part. Mostly I felt the occasion was a proud moment in Bon Jovi history. There will always be things that I'd change here and there..such as set list choices. But the fact they actually played as many "new" songs as they did was more than I had hoped for. I never thought I'd actually ever hear Open All Night done live. It really isn't everday you see Tico front stage center singing with Jon on the drums. There was far more good about this show than there were things to complain about. Yes, they interjected some moldy set list staples..but they were the smaller portion of the show compared to what was fresh.

I was reacting to the overall track record since 2000 and the fact that even after a long break from being on tour..Jon was still not letting it loose as he did up to 1996. I'd like to think 2005 is going to be a new chapter in Bon Jovi.....not a continuation of the Crush/Bounce chapter. This means seeing changes in approach at more than one level. But, I don't think it will happen until Jon rediscovers his passion for music and stops treating it like a day job. He simply cannot hide his intentions vocally.

I'm not convinced everyone truly knows what we are talking about when it comes to Jon's voice....particularly those who complain about the high notes or those that defend Jon's voice on the basis of his getting older. Kathleen captured it well in another post. Something is just missing...and we both believe it's a result of Jon not being focused. His outside projects are having an effect. I've seen this effect time and time again with Gene Simmons and KISS.

What made Jon's live voice so great was NOT that he would do what you expected based on the studio version...but rather the twists and surprises he would throw in that you didn't see coming. It was always obvious he was fueled by his passion for what he did..just feeling his way through the song.....now it's more of a recitation. It's not physically beyond his ability to do this now...it's an issue of where his heart and soul is. When he let it flow...there was no mistaking it. People's heads would turn...even those of non-fans. It wasn't just the novelty of playing acoustic on the MTV Music Awards in 1989...it was also the first time Jon's (and Richie's) live voices were really heard by such a large audience..and it got their attention. It wasn't about a bunch of high pitched screams. It was about the soul being projected....this was 1989.
