My range as a rock singer is about 4 and a half octaves, but as a classical singer I would be a baritone. But I can still reach notes of a mezzo-soprano, but it's not classical, it's head voice and/or falsetto.

Jon's range is a mix between baritrone and soprano, the highest notes he can hit are around high A, but he rarely does it anymore. Sounds like he can hit higher notes if they are short, but longer high notes (higher than high E) seem to give him trouble.

I don't consider Falsetto a proper way to sing...from my personal point of view it is too easy. I do remember when I was in my 'teens I could easily sing all guns and roses stuff in that way.
When I talk about range singing and ranging I mean in the classical way.

Now I have to go through that wikpedia page and translate a bit.

Thank you all for replying.

Try singing Oasis' The Importance Of Being Idle or Waiting For The Rapture. If you succeed properly you're a pretty good singer. So far no one has been capable of nailing the song like Noel did. Falsetto is a proper way to sing, it just needs to be used right.

I'll try.
I rembember the importance of being idle...it myght be quite difficult.
I could sing all What's the story album with no paritcular problems.

I'm away from Oasis since their third record.
Could you suggest me some of their last albums?

No rock singer sings in the classical way, therefore no classical limits or rules apply. Jon sings using a head voice, something not used in classical singing. So you can't really use classical terms when talking about rock singers.

And head voice and falsetto are two different things, but they're very close in ranges.

Listen to Tom Keifer of Cinderella. He has a very distinctive head voice, which he uses mostly. It's easy to say when he changes from his cheast voice to his head voice.

Uhmm...things are getting harder. I've always thought that Tom Keifer used to sing in falsetto. As Axl Rose or Brian Johnson. In fact these last two has a very low tune of voice when speaking and to reach high notes while singing they have to use falsetto.

I can do those songs pretty well, got no problem with falsetto. Sadly, many "proper" high notes in songs escape me.

I know you thought that, which is why I told you.

Not falsetto, head voice. Different thing.
