Giants Stadium, July 27th 2001 was the best version I have ever heard and seen. It blew me away!!!
However, I agree that the SBE version was also very good!

Aloha !

The one from Shepherds Bush really surprised me. It was a harder sound and the jungle medley was much better. Tico even plays the same drum rhythm as the drummer from Guns 'N' Roses does in Welcome To The Jungle.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Yes, I noticed that too! But Tico's drum beats were more apparant and more intense at Giants. The whole band really got into the song and knew something great was happening with it. Richie was magnificent and played that guitar like his life depened on it. He even went up to the speaker and played right into it! If you haven't yet seen the "One Last Wild Night" show which was shown on VH1, get yourself a copy and watch it!

i think it's fair to say that because they have still vbeen doing exciting versions of this song that anyone who has seen it live will feel that the best version ever was at the show they went to... i felt like that about manchester 96 and milton keynes 2001... but criticially speaking i'd have loved to have seen the 93 tour versions with those very high-pitched screams from jon

i confess to being an (asexually) jon lover pre-1996 - i had so much respect for a man who stuck to his principles etc especially with these days when the music scene was changing rapidly...
