Default The Bon Jovi (Jon, Tico, Richie, Dave) appreciation thread

Ok.....

Just for a moment:

Ok, let's forget about the Jon-has-a-big-ego-Richie's-dick-is-longer-Richie-is-the-better-singer-the-music-sucks-they-don't-like-each-other-anymore....

They are a good band which brings people together and they all do work on stage and there are awesome moments and there are still many good things to come and I do think we as "fans" don't need to criticise every single thing they do to death (to push our own ego's (that's what we do sometimes)).

I hope Richie settles his personal issues for his sake and even though nobody cares, I am still saying it: I think Jon is weird and that's what makes him so loveable just as we all are.
And everyone who does not become an asshole after crying in front of many people has to have a lot of personal integrity!

Oh and I do like the Circle! They need to have more faith in their own music, IMO!
Oh and Tico is still THE MAN!

That's all from me

Are you high...? :P

On a serious note - I honestly don't see anything wrong with Bon Jovi when it comes to their records. I love WAN, TC and HAND - LH wasn't a bad effort either. I don't really like a lot of the 80's stuff as I just can't relate to it. The 90's brought about some absolute masterpieces with KTF and TD. Post 2000, Crush and Bounce don't really do much for me either but I adore everything since.

It doesn't bother me that Bon Jovi isn't topping (or even on) the Top 40 as the band's commercial success doesn't really influence me. Of course I'd like to see them do well but it really doesn't make a difference to me whether they're No.1 or No.1958 on the charts - I like smaller bands and acts that don't have the same success as Bon Jovi.

Live - Jon's voice isn't the best but it doesn't bother me much as I don't really notice it in the heat of the moment except when he skips the occasional line or during Always. I used to think Pat Monahan of Train's voice was terrible live based on YouTube but after seeing the band 5 times I think his voice is perfectly acceptable for live performances.

Furthermore I LOVE Bon Jovi's stages and the overall production on the BWC and TC tours. The bog standard Bon Jovi setlist is great for getting crowds captivated and buzzing though I'd rather they drop some of the older stuff for the newer songs but I know I'm in a non-existant minority so I'm not fussed. The atmosphere the current setlist creates is fantastic! Jon may not run around the stage anymore like he used to during the HAND tour but he still seems energetic and puts in a lot of effort to carry the crowd.

I still think there's a lot to be thankful for. I enjoy the positive pop-rock that Bon Jovi makes. I like how the tour's shaped up (except for the whole Richie thing of course).

I understand that the Bon Jovi that I associate myself with isn't the same band that many of the long-time diehards do. I'm sure those that have been following the band since the 80s or 90s will have noticed the deterioration in Jon's vocals and movement on stage as well as the different music styles.

I too think TD and KTF were incredible albums however I'm not expecting Bon Jovi to be my all-in-one band. If I want uplifting, happy or story-telling music I listen to Bon Jovi, if I want moody music for when I'm feeling down - I listen to something else.

Nope, not high, just didn't sleep.

While my post was totally over the top (I just reread it) and full what I wanted to imply is that when the music gets "worse" for people the bitching about the people in the band starts which is bad since it is not going to change the quality of the music and the music is what most of us are here for and not the gossip-talk but with BJ it always seems to be connected.

There's a feature in the Sun newspaper (UK) today with Tico! It's called Ten Things I can't Live Without. He talks about Art, drums, steak and other things. Nice to see the Hitman get a bit of exposure.

Went to the Sun's web page and I can't find it. If you have a link would appreciate it. Even if the Sun is more Sean Borg connections.

It's only in the printed version. It's a pretty low brow newspaper. I only read it if someone else has bought it.

No love for Hugh?

He's been with the band since the early days and never had a problem with anyone.
