Default The Captain Crash Rocks My Socks/Face/Other Garments or Bodyparts Thread

On this board and among a lot of people here Captain Crash gets a lot of stick. I for one feel this is unfair - and I'm gonna stick up for it. Yeah, that's right: I love Crash! Captain Crash rocks my goatee - and it takes a lot to rock a goatee.

Let's leave the whinging outside and show some love for the captain!

Well, I see it like some members of my extended family..ok in small doses and well meaning but not strictly necessary. But strangely I would miss it/them if they weren't around in some form...

When Richie started the intro to Blood on Blood last night a little bit of me did die inside when i thought it was Crash, then as soon as Tico started bashing I knew disaster was averted. Nooo, ok its alright really. As is I love this town. Sometimes.

I LOVE Captain Crash (as I do all of Crush) and am not embarrassed at all to say it. I love it musically, and lyrically, and it never fails to bring a smile to my face. Is it a bit overplayed? Yes, but I can think of a bunch of worse Jovi songs that are way more overplayed.

I love CC as it always reminds me of the gig at Milton Keynes in 2001 which was pretty epic. I like it anyway, it's a fun song that has it's space in the catalogue and is a song that works well live - the crowds seem to like it. I've not seen confetti at any gigs I've been to though - is that usually a GC thing?

I like the outro Richie does on the outro version rather than just playing the solo again like on the album

I love Captain Crash. It sounds great on the record, and it sounded great live when it was still fresh up until about 2003. Now it lulls, and is overplayed, though I'd rather hear it over Who Says or WGIGO.

Aloha !

Yeah, lets all hear it for Capt. Crash again, because you know, it's an album track that's been played in pretty much every European show ever since it was released and I'm sure it really deserves that spot considering album tracks like Just Older, Next 100 Years and even I Got The Girl from the same album barely get played anymore and it's clearly the better song out of that list.

Also, it's great to have another topic on Cpt. Crash because we certainly haven't had enough of them yet.

Well done. The song always shows up here, always, and as soon as it starts you know the energy at any show will tank, Backstagers will do anything to get Jon's attention by throwing the confetti in the air, Jon will put all his energy into getting people to wave their arms and will focus less on actually performing a decent song. It's also become quite clear that when reading those topics opinions on the song have changed over the years, as the Crush generation obviously prefers the poppy tunes over the harder rocking songs nowadays, which is a sad thing as this will indicate that Jon is very much focussed on pleasing that generation; they're generally a lot easier to please than the die hards he build his empire on.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Hells no. That's way off. I love Captain Crash, but put it up against anything from New Jersey or Keep the Faith and I will forget about it. I don't think there's a single person who would rather hear Captain Crash over anything from Slippery or New Jersey.

Like I said, I love Captain Crash, but it stands pale compared to most of their 80's and 90's harder material.

I'm not having a go at you but I've had discussions with these fans at concerts who said "I don't like the older stuff, it sounds so dated and there's too much guitar. I like his new songs better. Crash is one of my favourites". I doubt you'd hear that coming from someone who didn't grow up with music from what's in nowadays charts.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
