I think "The Circle" is better album. I like every song from this album (although some are only average). HAND is unequal album for me. Some songs are very good (HAND, Last man standing, Story of my life) but on the other side there are some song I skip...
For me:
The Circle: 8/10
HAND: 6/10

I'm a big fan of Have A Nice Day but The Circle is the better album, as far as I'm concerned.

Have A Nice Day is a great rock album and it's consistently strong with a number of standout songs (Have A Nice Day, Last Man Standing, Bells of Freedom, Wildflower, Novocaine and Story of My Life). However what I love so much about The Circle is that there's a very consistent theme and feel running through the entire album.

While Have A Nice Day is a brilliant record one criticism I would have of it is that there's no consistent theme; some songs are really positive, some are dark, some are about politics, some are about relationships. It feels like a collection of 12 different songs, somewhat like listening to any particular disc from the box-set. With The Circle, not only are all the songs superb, I get the feeling that I'm listening to something complete and whole.

The best thing I can say about The Circle is that I find it next to impossible to choose what I think is the best song. They're all of such a high standard. When a song as brilliant as When We Were Beautiful could be ranked your ninth or tenth favourite from an album that's saying a lot.

The Circle without a doubt.

I'm a big fan of HAND, but The Circle is just so much better.

Poor ol' HAND

Still, I think the circles a great album, but sometimes I wonder about the consistency of it. I can't seem to get the feeling of it being a 'whole album' that Butters can. WWBTF sounds like its from HAND, WWWB is quite a distinct song but I can't think of another song it goes with on the album apart from maybe Learn to Love. Loves the only rule is a fantastic song but isn't exactly fitting a particular theme, it seems like a good song thats been jammed in. Live before you die could have been on LH.

I'm not saying these songs are bad, but rather, feel like they could fit on seperate albums. I'd say about half a dozen of the circles songs fit the theme I expected: working man, bullet, thorn in my side, brokenpromiseland, happy now and probably learn to love. But the other half of the album is either about random stuff or sounds like it could fit on another album much better.

The Circle by far, and I listen to HAND a lot. If anything, I like the Circle better than I first heard it.

This is a tough one for me. I always liked HAND, but The Circle has probably gotten more initial listens. ON a track by track basis:

1.HAND
2.When Were Beautiful
3.Welcome to Wherever You Are
4.Superman Tonight
5.Last Man Standing
6.Thorn In My Side
7.Wildflower
8.Brokenpromiseland
9.Love's The Only Rule
10.Complicated
11.Happy Now
12.Story Of My Life

So I'm actually split 6 to 6. What hurts The Circle for me are Work For The Working Man and more so, Live Before You Die.
