The melody isn't the problem, but the arrangement is. Most of the "rock" songs rely on guitar riffs that are usually pretty much tied to a certain key. For example, Radio Saved My Life is hard to play in any other key because of its open string-based riffs. You could use a capo and raise the key, but that also changes the timbre of the guitar.

If 'Always' was kept in the original band arrangement yet all lowered to accomodate Jons voice would this still be passable? If so I would still gladly hear this version.
Always is pretty much a piano song so you could re-arrange that into a lower key. But then we'd probably run into problems with Jon's lower range and the guitars. Plus, the songs power comes from the full belting in the chorus. Just wouldn't happen if you'd tune it down too much.

Always can't be tuned down that much indeed, because of the verses being sung so low compared to the chorusses.

I'd rather have a song sung like it was recorded, and sung like it sounds decent, than Radio that builds up during the verses, but has it's momentum killed in the chorusses.

You avatar kinda kills that arguments - Strumming with the Devil from Mr David "I'll **** your girlfriend, but won't sing in key" Lee Roth anyone?

Well, you can always downtune, it's not like it'd be a problem to switch to a guitar in C between songs. However, some stuff just sounds stupid when tuned too low, 'cause it loses its energy.

But seriously - I haven't payed attention to this tour 'cause I don't like the new songs, but didn't Jon get better on the HAND tour? Is his voice going downhill yet again?

that has always been overrated on this board. Jon's voice got better compared to the bounce tour, but there wasn't much needed for that. It was still not good

Thank You For Loving Me's highest note is high B, same as Wild In The Streets highest. TAALS's highest note as far as I remember is also high B. As is Lie To Me's. So they're all exactly as high.

Fact is Jon is losing his voice. But to back it up with guesses like you just did is stupid.

Ice
actually i'm a kind of fan that doesn't care about his screw-ups...i can bare him screwing their old hits...hell i'm still gonna' rock out! I'm just saying that "yes" he is losing his voice. I agree with you! I backed it up so that all those people who whines and complains about him doing 'arrangements' to do those hits 'safe' can actually accept the fact that he may never sing it in 'original format' ever again...that's all i'm trying to say. if my post pissed you off i'm sorry...i'm just giving off the sad reality

I was there, not the best night vocally but it wasn't all like that Wild In The Streets clip. Here is Hallelujah.

Unfortunately night 2 is the only night that I didn't get recorded - there were technical difficulties in the form of assholes in my row constantly going for more beer or the bathroom. A cable got pulled out of my recorder and I didn't notice it until the encore .

However I remember a great Keep the Faith - no jungle screams but a good straight version. And Hallelujah was gorgeous. So that was an isolated horrible screwup unfortunately.
