I mean no, but that's hardly a knock against Shanks. Bobby is the human jukebox, and even though Shanks has been playing live for however long it hasn't been in Bon Jovi's world. With Bobby around Richie got very underused, and not sure why, but we got deeper cuts. These days while the band can rehearse a new old song ahead of time it was easier for Bobby to learn it or probably already knew it.

Him gone means losing a lot of songs and I don't think people realized at the time how integral he was, myself included. We so badly wanted Richie to have the duties being given to Bobby.

Haha, the last one will make the first one good. Well, I do not miss Bobby on Bon Jovi, I just appreciate his out-of-band style. Bobby worked very well as a jukebox man, but that's about it.

Leave it to Jon to replace one of the worst suited musicians for hard rock with someone who is even worse. Of course we miss the better side.

I don't think I agree. Shanks fits the heavier rock side better than Bobby ever did but neither of them sound like Bon Jovi.

Bobby was good and fit for the JBJ DA band. For BJ-band his solos were very alien. Alienating actually.

But he is definitely a more interesting musician than Shanks.

Shanks just seems professional to me, and other than his obsession with that hyperreverb/delay/electropolished sound, I can't see some clear distinctive style in his performance.

I really don't see Shanks as a Bobby replacement... I think with this new Bon Jovi band, they are willing to play many songs off This House and Shanks just happens to be the guitarist... in combination with him being familiar with the past 6 albums as well... Bradley adds more with his backing vocals... and his additional skills just fill the rest in... aka percussion... it's not a replacement just something different...

The problem is that with Shanks it all seems to have gotten even more predictable and static. Not saying that it's his fault, but those two things seem to coincide. Plus this guy has no stage presence and having him upfront doesn't seem to fit at all.
