I was about to say this. Bobby wasn't that bad at all, if you compare him to Wanks.

Shanks is a much better guitar player that Bobby in my opinion and his style of playing fits Jovi better. I see that Bobby is still doing that thing in guitar solos when he basically holds the same note for the majority of the solo....vocally Bobby sounds great here though.

It's Shanks as a producer that I have the most problem with and there's just something about him as a person I can't warm to...whereas Phil X seems like a great guy, I just don't get that from Shanks.

I wasn't saying that Bobby is a better guitarist than Shanks. I'm simply saying that Bobby has aged better than Jon and Richie. The guy is on his game, both with his voice and on the guitar, he owns the stage without any complex.

Jon won't have a belly with 60 old, but the guy can't sing anymore, and my dear Richie... sigh, the guy still has his voice but he's not able to do two things at once, and as lord of the stage he's the apocalypse.

will never happen...it was time to move on...dave cobb would be a great choice for the band at this point of their career...jon proved once and for all that he is nothing more than an insecure little man living comfortable in his comfort zone

I've always liked Bobby when he wasn't playing (more like butchering) solos. He also sounded great with Jon on those DA concerts in 97.
With the band, he used to work very well as a rhythm guitarist and backing vocals, but that's it.

The consensus in 2030 will be that things went really wrong for the band when JBJ stopped working with John Shanks after their album in 2024. He could get Jon sounding good in the studio.

Agreed.
I always loved his vocal harmonies with JB on Oh Pretty Woman.
