Default The New Breed of Bon Jovi fans

Ok here a question for all you fans who became Bon Jovi fans from the It's My Life/Crush era.

Did you even know who Bon Jovi were and how long they have been going? What did you think when you 1st heard some of the older stuff, do you prefer it more to the new stuff?

It made me laugh when someone said of Bon Jovi there were only "one hit wonders" "They havent done anything as good as their 1st song It's My Life".

When I became a fan when It's My Life was released, I didn't know anything about Bon Jovi. I prefer the KTF era and TD era!

My thoughts exactly! Crush made me find Bon Jovi. Now, it's not even in my top few fave albums, but I like it because it got me into the band.

I first heard of Bon Jovi when Crossroads was released. And the only song i knew was Always, (i was in grade school). My neighbour always liked Bon Jovi and i didnt think much of them. I didnt know much either. It's My Life got me really going then i heard Bad Name and Bad Medicine and said "Bon Jovi sings those? I like those songs" The more i listened to the more i started to appriciate the band. I did all by studying when i went to the show on the One Wild Night tour and i have been a diehard ever since. Becky: You ask if we prefer old or new music? sometimes i have a hard time associating Older videos such as Wanted or Bad name with Bon Jovi like i do Misunderstood. Its really different when you think about it. I prefer this "new era" of Bon jovi (Crush, Bounce,) But more importantly i really enjoy LIVE Bon Jovi more now than older stuff. Some of the older Live stuff does not sound good at all.

same here... I didn't know anything about Bon Jovi...
After Crush I bought KTF and I think it was much better than Crush.

i became a fan when i heard its my life but id heard of them before. i think i knew about them since i was about 4 or 5. i remember reading about them in the tabloid newspapers in the early 90s, when there were rumours about them splitting up (so there were headlines like "its all ovi for bon jovi") and all this fuss about jon getting his hair cut. i knew about them, and i knew it was "them" not "him", but no one else that i knew knew that as well and they all said "him" so i said "him" too for a while, and i knew a little about them but i didnt know any of their songs cos they never seemed to get on the radio much... i was really surprised at people who thought IML was their first song, i assumed everyone had heard of them before, like me...

I wouldn't necessarily categorize myself as one of the "Crush/It's My Life" fans, even though I am part of the "younger" crowd of Jovi fans. I discovered the guys around 1994, during the KTF/Crossroads era and they definitely sparked my interest. But not knowing a whole lot about music back then when I was in junior high, I didn't become fanatical. I was more than excited to purchase "These Days" (yes, in cassette form, LOL) in 1995 and continued to follow the band during their hiatus, but not to the extent that I do now. "It's My Life" was more a revival for me after that five year break, and it came at the perfect time of my life -- my high school graduation. So while I've been a fan for about 9 years, the over-zealous fan in me came out in 2000.

I'm a newer fan from the It's My Life single, but I knew of Bon Jovi from way before that. When I was younger, around the Crossroad/These Days Era my friend was a big fan and he always used to play the music. I knew Livin' On A Prayer, Always, Something For The Pain, and one or two others already. I was only about 12 or 13 then though and wasn't into rick music. By the year 2000 I was already listening to Bryan Adams, Dire Straits, Paul Simon, and was progressing to other older rock music. Therefore Bon Jovi were bound to be discovered by me evertually, and I would have become a fan even if it wasn't for the It's My Life single. When I first heard the single I instantly feel in love with it, and remmebered Bon Jovi from the past and knew they'd been going for a long while, so I decided to collect their early stuff, which I've found is better than the newer stuff.
