Default The Offspring

I don't know if there's any Offspring fans here, but is it just me or is the intro to "Gone away" a little similar to Bounce? Obviously Gone Away came first and what not. Anyways, listen to the both of them and let me know, I'm curious to see if anyone else feels the same way or I'm going crazy.

Well, both have 4 chords. I don´t know shit about music theory so perhaps Iceman or someone else can tell if they´re using the same chords. Other kind of similar one is Weezer´s Hash Pipe´s intro and Undivided.

remember that ALMOST EVERY ROCK/POP CHORUS EVER MADE HAVE THESE CHORDS..... I IV V VI obviously you can play I V IV VI ecc. ecc. or this other progression I IV V

where I IV V VI means the grades(i don't know if is it correct in english) of the scale...for example the C scales has the C D E F G A B notes and you can build up from these notes these chords C Dm Em F G Am Bhalf dim. so this progression: I V IV VI means that you play C G Am F

if you were in the key of D the progression would be D A Bm G and so on...

take a look at the BED OF ROSES chorus....it goes VI V IV I
IN THESE ARMS I VI V IV
BORN TO BE MY BABY VI IV V I
STICK TO YOUR GUNS I V IV VI
and the same for almost every BJ/AEROSMITH/ADAMS/POISON (and thousand of others) songs
and so on....always the same 4 chords just in different order (but usually the same) and different keys

knew thered be some smart arse to correct me, ok ''similar'' riff then.

Similar enough that even a non musician could easily see the big similarity between the two if they listened to the two songs back to back.

I never heard the similarity even though Enter Sandman is my favourite Metallica track. I always heard a part of Beat it in Fear, but I wouldn't go as far as saying they're similar. And by saying they're not the same it hasn't got a single thing to do with the actual point of discussion so what's your point anyway?

Salaam Aleikum,
