Default The real GMA winner:

http://www.upi.com/view.cfm?StoryID=...8-015105-2072r

IS IT A SCANDAL?

When Bon Jovi performed "It's My Life" on "Good Morning America" Friday, viewers were told the band was playing the song that finished on top in a poll conducted on ABCnews.com. Online voters chose from a list of five Bon Jovi tunes -- "Wanted Dead or Alive," "You Give Love a Bad Name," "I'll Be There for You," "It's My Life" and "Misunderstood" -- all from the band's new album, "Bounce." The New York Daily News reported Monday that "It's My Life" was not the top vote-getter -- that it actually finished second to the ballad "I'll Be There for You." As Jon Bon Jovi and his band mates took the stage for the live shot in Miami, they were told that the harder-rocking "It's My Life" was the fan favorite, and that's what they played. The paper quoted "GMA" producer Shelley Ross admitting that she decided to have the band play a song that finished second in the fan balloting. "The voting was very close, and I made a decision to go with 'It's My Life,'" said Ross. "You're right that the ballad won out. It was a last-minute decision that I made to go with an upbeat song that is a fan-based favorite." Ross said Bon Jovi had nothing to do with the choice, and would have been happy to play either tune. "We probably could have handled this a lot better," said Ross. A spokesman for Jon Bon Jovi told the paper: "I think they should invite him back to play the real winner."

How could they do that (obviously not taking about BJ). They aksed the fans to vote for their fav song and when they did they take the decision to have Bon Jovi play a completely different song. How unfair is that.

And you know, the guys were joking about encountering vote-count problems since they would be playing in Florida. LOL It is kind of silly that the producers of the show would go for the vote idea and then not allow the real winner to be performed.

That will be pretty unfair thing to do. Since they think "It is my life" has better fan appealing than they should have asked BJ to perform it. Now with all the hypes and hopes and voting ....pretty disgusting ploy!!

Florida's done it again. That state should be cut off from the US! Thanks Becky!

I voted for I'll Be There For You and wanted to hear it soooo bad. How can she say that she went with the "fan based favorite" of It's My Life when the FANS obviously chose another song they FAVOR more???!!!!! Jon and Richie even joked about not screwing up the votes the first time they were on GMA to announce the poll!!! We can't do anything right here in Florida. Thank God I'm originally from New Jersey.

How rude!! She took a fun idea and made it totally irrelevant. I knew when they started playing IML it couldn't have possibly won the popular vote. What a biotch!
Thanks for sharing this Becky.

I think Bon Jovi fans should not stand for this. GMA is run by the news division and this is a disgrace. It may seem like a small thing but makes you wonder what other editorial decisions are made that also shade the truth. What happened to good old fashioned integrity? Anyway, I sent them an e-mail and if you wish to do the same here is the link
