I'm not sure that is quite true. Richie and Jon were heavily paired in the media and in appearances in their hey-day and it took hold. Most people who ever liked the band to a degree know full well who Richie is. No doubt, what you said is true for some...but for most who know of the band, it's been Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora.
