I always thought it was supposed to be an Aerosmith song, and they were trying to replicate Steven Tyler's range with this.

Thanks to this thread, I went back and gave LOST HIGHWAY a listen in full.

It may in fact be the band's strongest album since CRUSH. Maybe since THESE DAYS. I never thought I'd say that.

Seat Next To You is very underrated. I used to think that the album really took a dive after Any Other Day but I was wrong. There are too many slow songs in a row, but they are all are pretty good.

Walk Like A Man and Lonely should have made the album. If they were a part of the tracklist, the album would certainly be the strongest since THESE DAYS.

Whole Lot Of Leaving and Any Other Day are among the best tracks in any decade.

Lost Highway and Crush are the only albums I listen to anymore from the post 2000 era. Lost Highway was really, really good. And it still holds up for me.

Whereas Burning Bridges, I haven't listened to that since about 2 weeks after it came out.

Lost Highway is a decent album and Jon dropped a massive bollock by saying it was a country album in the buildup as outside of the states, that is not a positive!

I don't care for Dirty Little Secret, lyrically it's a poor Damned, I don't like that guitar tone and I'm glad it was just a bonus track.

As one of the biggest LH album fans on this board, I'm happy to see it finally getting some love here. I do remember a few years ago it was butchered in the album rankings, but now it would probably do a lot better I think.

I also love Silent Night!! The first time I clicked on the song I was on YT and i listened to the 1987 Cincinatti version and I absolutely loved the raw passion he had even though his voice was shot. And Richie's backing vocals at the end while Jon was rambling were freaking awesome !!

I'll back this 100%... One of the most underrated songs ever... And album to say the least.

- This Left Feels Right is a great, great album. Even beyond the creative arrangements, it just sounds magnificent. Whoever produced that album should produce everything they ever do again.

- I love Running, Old Habits Die Hard, the Fighter and all of Jon's acousticy solo stuff. I'd much rather him pursue that musical direction than pump out another What About Now or Burning Bridges.

- Joey & Right Side of Wrong are both horribly underrated, and I guess that goes for Bounce in general. There's a lot of good stuff on that album, although admittedly it's dragged down by the more generic Undivided/Bounce-esque material.

- Make a Memory is, hands down, the best song to come out of the BJ camp since something off These Days. That song is an absolute masterpiece.

- You'd be hard pressed to compile a single album of genuinely good songs from Crush-Burning Bridges. You can count the songs worth listening to across Crush, Have A Nice Day, the Circle, What About Now and Burning Bridges on one hand. Lost Highway and Bounce are both markedly better and probably have 3-5 great songs each.

- I actually really like the Greatest Hits songs. This Is Love is a little on the "I've heard this a million times before" side, but the other three aren't bad at all. The lyrics of No Apologies are surprisingly very good.

- I really, really want to love the Keep the Faith album, but just about the entire second half is filler. The quality drops off dramatically after Dry County, and there's two songs (I haven't listened to it enough to remember which) that sound exactly like Keep the Faith and I'll Sleep When I'm Dead. I don't mind Little Bit of Soul, but the rest of it...

- This is probably sacrilege as a Bon Jovi fan, but I actually can't stand Living on a Prayer or You Give Love A Bad Name. Slippery When Wet doesn't do much for me in general. 80s glam rock isn't my thing at all

- I actually really enjoy What About Now the album. There's probably only 4 songs on it that I can say I dislike. The rest is enjoyable, including Into the Echo (love that track!)

This is similar to this thread from a few years ago. Very interesting reading back on it and seeing how my taste has changed.
