From all the people in the world I'm sure at least 1 will be able to record the HDTV feed and convert it to DVD and post it online somewhere.

Capturing a webcast might not be that easy. There are ways of protecting a web cast so that it can't be recorded via net-sniffers or stream downloaders. And if I recall correctly, Kathleen said she had trouble recording the last web cast even locally. Kathleen, would you mind sharing with us the eqiupment you used?

..and ask a ridiculous price for it. Or just sit on it like soem people do. There are great versions of shows that will never be bootlegged because the people who recorded them won't share them.

I've seen HDTV rips of shows from other bands be shared on sites like EZT and STG (which is down again I believe). From all the people in the world there should be someone nice enough to share it. Perhaps there is even someone here at JT that could do it.

The last Bon Jovi Borgata webcast and Jon at the Four Seasons of Hope this past June I was able to capture. The recent Kerry rally with Jon at Carnegie Mellon Univ. I could not. In order to even view that webcast you had to download a special file from Carnegie Mellon so that one may have been protected.
I don't use any special equipment - I use URL snooper to get the hidden url and then I use various stream rippers depending upon what kind of file it is. If it's a windows media file I use streambox, but only streambox 3.0 (streambox 3.1 will not rip windows media files). Stream Down will rip most anything else except for LIVE Real Media broadcasts (like the Bounce broadcasts last summer). For those files I use Real7ime Converter (known as R7C). Here is a link to a newsboard that will give a good explanation of which program is best for what kind of files:
