And no, I've never come up with a riff that sounds like another tune unless I do it intentionally by putting bits and pieces from other songs into songs of mine.

Well it's happened to me a bunch of times sometimes years apart, particularly when using simple riffs.
The production is similar in that they have loud guitars and driving drums on it. Both are guitar bands after all.
Even at that, the BJ track drops way down in energy as soon as the verse kicks in whereas the SP tune just keeps going really.
