Definitely a Yay, and not just cause it's from TD! SFTP is a class song. Shame they dont perform it live anymore, really.

I've always loved this song. It's got the same feel good vibe as a lot of earlier Jovi stuff, but with the layers of different instruments it becomes something different entirely.

I think it's only described as one of the "weakest" because TD is full of quality songs, but I don't think it's weak at all.
That was me.

Well, there's a whole 2 of you now - so your SFTP hating army has doubled 100%.

No, just seems to me as if he LOVES that slide guitar stuff and uses it quite often.

This song is the best example how a great song on record can be so weak when played live. I really love all of the studio version...but it is so boring live.
The main reason IMO is because of the lack of power in the backing vocals when compared to the ones on the record.
No way they're gonna play it live nowadays. Jon couldn't "revive" this song even in his better days, I don't even want to imagine the result of live performance of this song these days.

That takes the cowboy thing way over the line in my opinion. However, once I got past those lyrics I found I could enjoy the song. These days I don't even cringe when I hear them - I just enjoy the music.
I'm not entirely sure how attempting to kill yourself with a rope is 'cowboy'.

But yeah, I think the song is one of their best. A catchy song which manages to get pretty deep.

In 1995, Jon said S4TP was re-arranged and re-recorded before release because John Kalodner didnīt like it in the first place. At that time, it was one the TD songs Jon was especially happy about.

sorry just cant agree on this song.
Album kicks off with the thunderous Hey God and then the pace of the album takes a massive downturn with S4TP and then TAALS. I like TAALS but its in the wrong place on the album.
TD is one of my favourite BJ albums but those 2 songs just make the start of the album a bit slow.
Its probably the slowest paced Jovi album as TD and then Lie To Me follow.
I can see why some find TD a depressing album.
I remember one review in a Rock mag gave it 2/10 - and said they just couldnt get into so many slow paced songs.
