In your opinion that is! There is no right or wrong answer here. He is not right for thinking that, and you are not wrong for not thinking that.

I actually totally agree with theseday2014 about 7 years and broken wings...

Lyrically I have and that's enough to judge Jon's honesty... But to talk about it so matter of fact stating that it's WAN part 2 is just uncredible at this point...

If the initial statement started off "In My Opinion" than I wouldn't have commented but it was stated as a fact so if the OP said it as a fact, I'm stating that it's not as a fact...

A lot of fans still seems really angry at Richie for leaving (read some of the comments on social media). It's been 3 years, move on. Richie's heart wasn't in it anymore, so it's a good thing that he left. Isn't following your heart what a lot of the band's music was about? Then, when a band member does exactly that the fans hate him for it. Ok, maybe he could have not left on the day of a show, but clearly something snapped in Richie that day and he decided he couldn't do it anymore. Fair play....

How about saying Thanks Richie for 30 years of great times with Bon Jovi, you do what you've gotta do. Whether you follow him solo or not is irrelevant...he gave the fans of this band a lot in those 30 years, from songs to records to tours, and we should all appreciate that!

There doesn't seem as much anger towards Jon just a lot of criticism for his voice. Dome performances make me sad that he no longer has the power he used to. I listened to Keep The Faith the other day and he was phenomenal in his prime, but we are all getting older. We can't be the same as we were 20 or even 10 years ago....
If you think there's no anger towards Jon than we must be on different boards. There was literally a recent post/poll asking if we think he should continue after this album. I've seen him called every name in the book on this board. Both of them get slagged off hard, sometimes deservedly so and sometimes not.

Like you said, it's not that he split it's how he did it. I think people would have been understanding and eventually gotten over it if it was ambicable and a press release went out and handled gracefully. You don't just bolt day of and then hope everyone will one day be cool with it and support you. I've seen a lot of bitter fans, some need to move on but also some need to understand that it was a douche move and isn't something they want to spend money on. He's burned me twice now with cancelling.

I didn't say that. I said "not as much anger"....

Which there isn't. I'm not just talking about here...read the Facebook comments on anything Bon Jovi post....

yes it was a douche move, but as has been said many times we don't know what was going on behind the scenes or with him personally. I understand being mad for a while, but it was years ago now. He gave us much more than he took away...

True enough. In my head, and I know I've mentioned this before....It's not our job to play detective. If there was something going on behind the scenes or not, it neither side is going to say what went down we have to go with what we're told. Jon says day of he walked. Richie says he wanted to see his daughter. The things they both told the public dictated how people are going to feel. You can't blame fans for not wanting to support someone who does that. If he wants people on his side and there was a better reason for leaving the onus isn't on us to think "well he probably had a reason" because that wasn't the choice we were given. A small percentage of fans read between the lines but the mass public, the mass general public, will take what they're told and make opinions based on it.

It was a piss poor excuse to use him wanting to spend more time with his daughter and leaving the day of a show. I refuse to treat him like a saint for walking away and doing what makes him happy. I'm all for him doing what makes him happy but walking away and then wanting people to trust him and then doing unrehearsed shows and cancelling with fake excuses....people aren't just mad that he left, people are confused that he left and he isn't where he used to be quality wise.

Sorry...IMO lol. What would it be for you?

We've heard the live versions of THINFS...

Again, IMO Jon's acoustic stuff is the most honest music he's put out recently, some of Bridges too. Why? Because it's different and musically solid.

And I wouldn't consider my post a Richie thread. I also stated that IMO, some of the best guitar work since These Days is on Burning Bridges 🙂

To be honest, it seems to be the same with everything these days: politics, sports etc.. Pick a side and sling mud at the other side. It's disappointing and childish and something I can't understand as a fan of the band and their music that people have such opinions of the band members personalities that clouds them to the point of spoiling their enjoyment of the music.

We could end up with a decent Bon Jovi album and a Richie Sambora album in quick succession which is double the new music so not actually a bad thing despite the split.
Wow - a well measured, fully adult post on this board. I couldn't agree more. I have (mostly) tried to stay out of the feud but it ain't easy LOL.

I agree with JoviTalker Denman: Make Bon Jovi great again -- impeach Shanks, re-elect Richie!
