Of course it sounds Petty-ish, the main "Hey baby" hook is identical to the one in I Won't Back Down!
I agree that the melody doesn't quite fit the tone of the lyrics. Generally the song is melodically quite pleasing, but that's about it .... it's not overly impressive IMO
