Theory on These Days

When did he have an affair?????? That seems so unlike Jon.

This is news to me. I saw or read an interview with Jon where he said that they were really happy at that time and only later realised These Days was a very dark album. Also made some comment about seeing a shrink for this reason (joke).

Be as it may, the reason they do not play too many songs from These Days being either the major strain it puts on the vocal chords (there are some intensive songs on there), it is not suited for stadiums or it may represent too many negative memories. Listening to These Days got me hooked for good in the Bon Jovi camp (I was already, but this planted my feet in concrete). it is a rare image of another side of the band. When they played Something To Believe In in 2002 in Amsterdam, it did provide a beautiful picture in the stadium, but it is more for the real intensively involved fans. You could see that the major part of the crowd appreciates these songs, but they are there more for the party stuff, which is ok. Perhaps they should do an acoustic version of this album in a theatre show? Now that would be something! (well, thinking about it again, they might do that when they are a bit older)

This is also news to me. The reason to me was always the lack of commerical success of the album in the states. Though not given as a reason for not playing songs from the album....they have stated they realized it was a dark album after the fact, that they were all quite happy at that point in their lives. I'm quite certain you are getting facts confused.

What you are referring to is generally attributed to the 7,800 F period as far as the reason for not wanting to play songs from that album. Which they actually don't (These Days do get played every once in a while....only Tokyo Road gets plays from 7,800 F and thats usually just in Japan.) I really don't give a s*** about whether or not he had an affair or when. But it is not the reason for why they don't play many These Days songs.
