But that is not the opposite of what I said. I said I agree that there are things missing to what made them GREAT. But I still recognize today's Bon Jovi as Bon Jovi - not the "most great" Bon Jovi. They haven't always been Great Bon Jovi. They were Bon Jovi - and they still are, to me. There were times when they were "greater" but I just don't get it when people come with such ultimate comments as if they've completely lost it. To many casual listeners they haven't even changed a bit.

Lots of people that I drag to concerts with me go home converted. They are amazed - even when I have a complaint about the show. Face it - most of us here are hypercritical. These bands - especially in the past - didn't have their every mistake bootlegged and on the internet in 24 hours. Considering that - I think that all of the older bands have held up quite nicely.
Hey Kath,

As usual, you bring some much needed wisdom. Were you a seer or something in another life?

You're right, I don't think for a moment that anyone who doesn't have 100+ CD's actually notices a damn difference. I used to listen to the boots a lot more than now. Now I only listen to the decent quality live songs I have (unfortunately, not as many soundboard recordings as I would like - really want one from Bounce with the whole BOOM, BOOM thing for KTF...lol) but I do listen to them a lot, and so I'm going to notice differences a lot more than anyone else will.

A friend of mine at work who's a casual fan commented on the RV performance that It's My Life wasn't great, and she'd have been dissapointed if they played it that bad live, but she was totally blown away by Let It Be. And when these casual fans go to a show, they're pretty much always blown away.

I wish every band I've seen could do that to me, but they don't, and that's why I'm here and not on some other bands board

Evryone who doesn't spot a difference between a record like TD or even KTF (whcih I think is overrated) and LH is either deaf or lying to himself.
Those were records with "an edge" great songwriting and passion. LH is just a bunch of hasty-written, badly produced and forgettable songs.

Bullshit. If your theory would make sense, Bon Jovi would have sold out Wembley 4 times instead of 2 times on the Crush Tour, and would have booked 5 dates at Twickenham by now.

Also, expecting good rocking music from Bon Jovi and then saying that you want songs like the ones on Lost Highway obviously means that you haven't got a clue of what you're talking about when it comes to expecting rocking music.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
i never said that Bon Jovi were getting more more with thiere new fans and keeping all thier old ones, there are a lot of people who only liked the These Days stuff, and were around in 95, others who only liked the 80s stuff and went to see them now and there is even a small minoirty of people who have liked the bon Jovi music of the 00s to all pevious stuff. but it is true that they have kept a large audience from all 3 eras, shown because thier last tour was one of the biggest they have had. they had only been able to play the RDS and Lansdown Road in Dublin, last time they were able to fill Croke Park, as well as breaking attendence records in Japan. so yes they are still getting a massive audience to thier concerets, maybe not the same at the These days tour but im sure it isnt to far away.

i think LH had a lot of good music, any other day was excellent, walk like man, put the boy, make a memory, stranger, we got it,

maybe not as rock as thier previous records but for a country influenced album thats not bad, and i was happy with thier attempt, would i like to see it again, probs not but i wasnt expecting another HAND, i was expecting HAND with a cowboy hat, and thats what we got

Agree with AAD and to a certain extend WLAM but "good" in the same sentence with stuff like Stranger and WGIGO (the most ridiculous lyrics in a bubblegum rock song) is something to laugh about. This records deserves a lot of prizes in the "Weakest....." . Categories of 2007!

Nah - I just like to think I'm a realist. I was a Beatles fan back in the day too. When they were making Sgt. Pepper do you think they gave a shit if anybody wanted to hear "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" type songs anymore? No, the Beatles were always pop but the early stuff was really innane and simple. They actually improved and became far better musicians 10 years later. Like it or not - bands (and people) do change. As another favorite band of mine said:

And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes - I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

Thank you Danilo - as I just said I try to be a realist. I do see a lot of the bands faults but I also still see a lot of good points. I don't see any point in shamelessly worshipping any more than sounding like born_to-run. My advice to him would be that his band has started playing different tunes and he should move on. I can't imagine that much energy being wasted on a sound that you hate - unless it's an ego thing.

I sure moved on and ignore LH and the tour. But you don't wanna tell me I should not listen to old pre LH Bon Jovi anymore do you? That would be ridiculous. I still enjoy them when they were great which they aren't anymore (far from it!)

WGIGO has a great bass line in it, lyrics are cheesy but the solo is funky, the beat is great and it has been hyming it all day.

stranger is an excellent slow ballad, that a lot of people loved, not as good as always or BOR or TAALS but still a decent song.

LH is a desent album for what it set out to achieve, a cross between HAND and country music, thats what we got! some cases good some bad,

i dont mind most the tunes on LH, SNTY is the only one i would skip, but others like everybody brokern, stranger, ILTT, MAM, LH, WGIGO, PTBBIC, WLAM, i really think a solid songs, which i expected from this album. They are allowed to experiement with the thier OWN music, again we dotn have to go to the tour or listen to the album, but there have a been a lot of people who loved the album, and want to see it played live!

No you don't, unless ignoring means dedicating over 700 posts to something you don't like.
