Oooh, you thought about me.

They really, really, realy hate 7800. I keep convincing myself they don't hate it THAT much and then I'll see something like what you just posted, or stumble on an interview where they diss the old songs, and I get sad all over again.

IMO some of Tico's best work is on 7800.

I was about to say "okay I'm sorry I stole the topic away from these days" but I scrolled up and remembered I wasn't the one who mentioned it first. I thought about it, though.

I think they don't do songs from this album because they don't come across as good live. admittidley, on the live from london vid, this ain't a love song and hey god sound great. but has anyone heard the live version of my guitar lies bleeding.... in yokohama 96? it sounds horrible and it doesn't do the song justice. they just can't capture the mood of these songs live. like bed of roses, on the record it's got "dark" sort of sound but when they play it live it sounds all lovey dovey.

Ha ha, yes, blame me for hijacking the thread. I really like 7800, I think the songs, for the most part, just remind the band of their bad relationships and moods at the time.

Well they don't get played a lot really, but a lot of those you mentioned have been played on the past few tours, not dropped totally since 95/96. They did Hey God a few times on the One Wild Night tour I think, Damned and Diamond Ring were played on the Bounce tour and Diamond Ring has been played once this tour too, Something To Believe In was done last tour I think, and These Days has been included in the encore a fair few times this year too.

Obviously they could be played more, but the more new albums they release the more they have to add to the setlist, plus having all the classic tracks, it leaves less room for these. As rarities go I think they are probably played as often as rarities from other albums, save perhaps for New Jersey.

He sang These Days this tour and it came out quite well, as I've been told.

He sang It's Hard Letting You Go at a Herb Ritts, AIDS benefit, in Feb. of 2005 and it sounded great. It was Jon plus, Bobby B, Jeff Kazee, and Lorenza Ponce. I was fortunate to be able to attend.

Lucky!!! TD is my favourite album, but if I had to hear one song from it (aside from Damned), I would love to hear Letting You Go.

Steph, my jaw nearly hit the ground when I heard him start to sing it. It was beautiful, yet very sad. I had never heard this TD song live before so it was definitely a treat.

My jaw probably would have hit the ground LOL But with a song like Letting You Go, it's easy to understand why it doesn't get played in concert. You're at a concert to be entertained and a song such as Letting You Go would definitely take away from the entertainment aspect. Sure, the diehards would love it, but it would change the tone of the concert. Just my opinion.
