I really don't understand why TD was born. What caused it. I want to understand it. Or to have at least some kind of idea.

These Days might not have sold zillions but it's a fan favorite for many, and one of the best acclaims from the critics. A lot of non-fans see it as a much better album than others.
I think if they had kept that direction instead of the solo work or Crush, they'd have hit the nail and be closer to rock music legends than record sales legends, which is what they are now and which I don't care about.

I think they always wanted to write such a record...now they had Crossroad behinf them and just wrote.

Beside , at that time a lot of things were going in the world.
"Tired of watching TV, it makes me want to scream. outside the world is burning...." I guess this was the most important reason they wrote it.

And they did also want to proove that they can write heavy songs that are NOT party songs.

And it is alos supposed the guys were in theit mid-life crysis.

I guess it has it's reasons.

If you consider 3-star reviews to be a critical acclaim, then I guess they got it. I don't remember seeing any 5-stars reviews for this.

They will be rock legends sooner or later. They are a very talented band. They cannot hide from their talent.

How was it?

You can run, but you cannot hide...

I think when they wrote it, it had been a long time Jon&Richie hadn't collaborated that much. I mean KTF has 7 songs from Jon alone I think, when TD has about 11 from Jon&Richie I think (and maybe a 3rd person).
And having kids, getting married, etc... probably made them think about life and deeper things.
To me, it's probably the album for which they tried the least to be anything or anyone but themselves.

I don't like this album because it only has 2 songs I like... Hey God, Something For The Pain. It has a few ok, and lots I don't like. As for every other album. It at least has 5 or 6 I really like and most are ok.

It's what they've been doing for a while now. At least from that talent that transforms good in great.

You probably cannot relate to this record that much. When you are 17, it is a lot simpler to relate to SWW, NJ and Crush. It's hard to relate to Damned, Something to believe in and It's hard letting you go.

But it's okay. Methinks your opinion about this record will change with time.
