Default Question for die hard Jovi fans back in the year 2000

I'm curious as to what Bon Jovi fans thought of Jon's voice when crush came out??? I had Itunes on shuffle and it played a these days song then a crush song and jon sounds like two very different people. So i was curious as to what die hard fans thought back in the year 2000 when crush was realized if Jon's voice was an issue for them?? Not that it matters he can still sing his ass off but that is a huge change in only 5 years.. I became a fan in 2002 so i didnt get to experience it the same way.

i think his voice sounds a little different - but not a great deal - because Crush was a softer sounding album.
Other than a handful of tracks they are all slower tempo songs and sang different to other Jovi songs.
I think Crush is their worst album by far.

Ive been a Jovi fan for 22 years and havent noticed a great deal of change in Jons voice - just a change in sound for the band

His voice is different! You can tell.

It's not as powerful. The only song it really stands out is on Save The World.

His voice was different...not majorly so that I noticed and to be honest, but the previous albums we'd had were DA and before that These Days - much darker songs and so sung a different way.

But when Crush came out, I was just glad to have something from the band after a long, long absence. Much as It's My Life bores me now, it was tremendous when it first came out and it was on the radio all the time, and the video was on the tv, and Bon Jovi were back, baby!

actually there was a lot of music between the 2 releases that "bridged the gap" in his voice
there was a solo album, a solo tour, guest performance with Richie on his tour, a few new tunes played late in the solo tour, the 10th anniversary bash with it's listening party full of new tunes and the concert at the same event, the release of Real Life and it's promotion
Die hards were aware of all of this so the change seemed more gradual than it moght have seemed to a more casual fan who hadn't heard anything new in the 4 year gap.

I wasn't around for that period, but I think that the change in style in Jon's singing had already been foreshadowed in Destination Anywhere. Songs like Queen Of New Orleans, Little City, August 7th etc are all sung in quite a low register

Well, I loved them when really young. But you can't really count that, because being a young kid, I didn't exactly pay attention to these things. I just liked the sound of the songs. And forgot about them when I went through boyband/pop phase. It was about 2000, 2001 that I re-found them (for good ) So I wasn't like "omg his voice has changed" because as I said, I was too young before then to take notice. But when I started listening/buying everything I could get my hands on from them, from way back up to then. That's when I noticed that his voice had changed a lot. I mean listening to SWW then Crush, it's blatantly changed A LOT, lol. But people shouldn't be hard on him for it. I mean wow, he's getting older, his voice is bound to change really isn't it? He's deffinitely picking up though IMO. I don't think Crush was a good era. Not too fond of the album in itself.

I always thought his voice was still quite powerful at times on Destination Anywhere, plus I've heard live tracks from 1997, so to me, the transition of his voice was over the course of just 3 years. That's just how I see it anyway.

Obviously his voice is different from TD to Crush in a not so good way, still think he sounds decent though. I think he voice now though is fantastic.
