A fun nugget into this song - here's a rare performance of IBTFY from 1992 An Evening with Bon Jovi rehearsals in original key and in 2010 tempo!

Jon clearly didn't like it (David also complains throught the song about it being too fast) and then the later performances (including the same rehearsals) featured half step down tuning and slower tempo.

Meh. Every time a solo by Phil picks up he halts it by doing endless bends. He's a great guitar player but he just doesn't "get" what kind of solo's the songs need. Jon leaves the stage and the band has the chance to turn this into something great yet there's so many solo's and all of them sound shit. David's organ solo is drowned out by both the band and crowd, surely he ought to realize how this just doesn't work? As for Shanks, he should just stick to applying eye shadow for his shows as his solo's lead to nowhere. This song used to be a highlight of the show and now it's just a lot of show for a lot of noise. So much potential yet all of it is wasted on a band who doesn't realize how to make music anymore.
