Blood on the Bricks is as close as you can get to a Bon Jovi album without Bon Jovi. It's a GREAT album. It really helped get me through the time between Blaze and Keep the Faith.

This is Bon Jovi's 2nd Skid Row project gone bad.

He tried to create his own record label. He signed a few artist and helped write and produce Aldo's album. etc etc. It wasn't a commercail success but the music isn't half bad. It's basically an 80's Bon Jovi record without Bon Jovi

I was so curious I downloaded Blood on the Bricks - definitely worth doing! The Jovi similarity is unmistakable, the singers voice has a kind of young Jon vibe and the songs are catchy. Liking this album a lot so far.

My favourite track is 'Hey Ronnie (Veronica's Song)' and 'Touch of Madness' is a cracker too. The track 'Medicine Man' was also recorded by the band Message and was on their album 'Lessons' (featuring Richie and Alec) when it was re-released back in the 90s.

Yes, it is a great album!

I realised that Bon Jovi were quite lucky not to record any album between NJ and KTF. NJ was released in the best time possible - the last two years of the 1980s were the peak but ut went down so quickly in 1990. Some bands released 80s sounding albums in 1991 and they tanked. This one is a great example. It sounds too much 1980s for being successful in 1991. Luckily, Bon Jovi were touring so much that they didn't have time to release a new album and when they had time, they didn't want to do it. I'm afraid that it would tank as well and we can only guess what would happen, they'd probably disband. So waiting and maturing till 1992 was a clever step
Just my thoughts

If Bon Jovi had released a Glam Metal album in 1992, it wouldn't tank because they had an enormous fanbase. Def Leppard did it; the album went #1 and it was bigger than KTF.

Of course by late 1992, it didn't matter what kind of style Bon Jovi would do. It wasn't going to match their previous two records (at least in the US).

Best regards,
the Sexx

Def Leppard also tanked their career with that album. Yes, it was bigger than keep the faith, it was also a last gasp that ensured their name was forever associated with the late 80's hair era, nevermind anything else they had done in their career.
