The best thing about TLFR was the good quality Aol DVD we got with it, if the whole album had been like they performed those songs ie acoustic, i'd have loved it.
Its Nickolai, not Nikolai. And Leave Emile alone. He'll bag us 20 goals this season! Its a shame that the whole Hyde Park gig wasnt available, as they must have recorded the whole thing

Hahahahahaha he hasn't scored that many in his career, Niko! I wasn't that impressed with the HP songs, there were much better gigs on that tour I'd like to have seen footage of.

I have no issue whatsoever with them going back and "messing around" with their classics but two issues bring the album down for me. The first is that with the exception of maybe IML and Everyday every song lost power in it's new form, and second is they stuck to their greatest hits. For an album like this I think they would have been infinitely better off mining their entire catalouge for tracks that lent themselves to a reinterpretation. Bed of Roses, I'll Be There For You and Always were absurd choices and it looked for all the world at the time and soon after that the only reason these songs were chosen and rearranged in the way that they were was to make them incredibley easy to sing.

I like the album and I love some of the rearrangements but the album as a whole doesn't work. I wish they had spent a much longer period of time creating it and maybe they could have got it right, but it was a good experiment and I'm glad I have the record.
Could be my words.

Some songs work, some don't. I like especially Wanted, IML, Bad Medicine, Everyday, Bad Name. Those are really good IMO. Others are okayish, such as BTBMB and Bed Of Roses.

Others are absolutely rubbish: KTF and IBTFY are amongst the worst stuff they have recorded. It's not the concept itself that doesn't work here, but the execution. I loved the idea of rearranging songs, it could have been a splendid album. We know what they are capable of when it comes to acoustic stuff, see the reggea version of KTF Some of it is a little to much 'left' though.

I don't like how they edited some songs, like the midpart in "Always", parts of the intro in "Wanted", the way "Prayer" ends... it all sounds too forced.

And I absolutely agree, it shouldn't have been the obvious greatest hits. Why not "I'd Die For You", "Just Older", "Stick To Your Guns"... etc.?

I enjoy it when listening to it, but the only songs I truly like on it are 'Bad Name', 'Keep The Faith', 'Wanted' and 'I'll Be There For You'.

You're not a Law & Order Criminal Intent fan are you? That was Gorens arch-enemy, Nicole Wallace...

Overall I like it for what it is, although I wouldn't necessarily want to hear those versions live much I'm glad they made it.

Haha. Olivia d'Abo also does the voice of Luminara on The Clone Wars (which I happen to enjoy even if it is aimed at little kids ) but I'm still not a great fan of that version of Prayer.

I agree with this. I think it was a GREAT idea, but it didn't turn out that well. Too many of the songs sounded too similar. It's like they got stuck on a sound and didn't branch out like they could have.

I was disappointed at the first listen as I was expecting/wanting just acoustic performances of the songs. I hated LOAP and it almost went in the trash just hearing it. However, some of the songs grew on me and I still listen to them. I recall how excited Jon sounded when it was finished and he was doing publicity. Unlike his other recordings, this was produced in a very short time (less than a month) and he initially sounded like he'd love to work with the producer again. Obviously, he expected it to be better received. Later he commented that the band did it for artistic reasons rather than commercial reasons---something along the lines that they had already made so much money that they were free to do an artistic experiment.

CANNOT BELIEVE those talking about Olivia D'Abo have failed to mention 'The Wonder Years'. Played a great character and married David Schwimmer on the show too.
