I've read it all now. So, you are responsible for saving the JoviWorld from the Phantom Menace that was TLFR live? You hero!

Get the man a medal!

JBJ - I believe

"Sambora's face is a mask of joyous disbelief, as if previously unaware of his ability to play the instrument at all. Reaching the last fistful of notes, he does a fair impression of a man who is actually ejaculating into his jet black flares."

The DVD did actually make me appreciate the new arrangements a bit more i suppose because it was "live" and not covered up my what people have described as a cheap production.

The album as a whole is not a great listening experience because a lot of the songs just sound to samey. There's not a great deal of variation to keep me interested. Drum loops I can live with so long as they're not used pointlessly (eg. Bed of Roses just before the part where the solo used to be) and I feel it worked on "Everyday".

But yea, the whole thing just feels like product rather than a band recording an album and I can't help but feel it was just put out there just to get their sales into the 100 million mark in time for their 20th anniversary. Whether it was that album that actually did it for them I dunno, I don't look at album sales. I'd have thought they would have got there soon enough if they'd released nothing at all instead.

Jon made a comment after one of his performances and said "man, you all really hate that album". I ran into Obie a few weeks later and the topic came up. He asked me "as a fan what don't you like about it". I told him to tell Jon that we don't hate the idea but it's like Da Vinci repainting 12 Mona Lisa's and then trying to push them off as the original. It just don't work. A few weeks after that Jon made his comment. Maybe a coincidence or maybe Obie told Jon what his fan said....

So yes, technically you could all thank me.

My thanks are in the post

On the DVD, I do have to laugh at Jon in the interview bit when he starts talking about how it's 'all about the art' and all that pretentious nonsense. When Jon talks like that, I do wish someone would give him a good kicking or talking to.

Rdkopper, can you tell Jon not to take himself so seriously please?

I'd rather he told Jon to learn how to sing properly again.

Unfortunately, I do not have that access and if I did, I'd have a lot to say.

I still prefer this version of "Everyday" over the original though.

Oh, and Olivia d'Abo's vocals are one of the worst things I've ever heard, and not just in music.
Agree with you on both points, I like this version of Everyday and who told Olivia d'Abo she could sing? Jon must have owed a favor to someone.

Wasn't the album's producer her husband? Something like this.

Terrible. Absolutely horrendous version of the song.

There are only 2 decent things about TLFR: the piano-ballad version of IML, and the album cover. Everything else on they're is pretty much straight out crap. Still wish we had just gotten the Yokohoma show, sickness be damned.

They should have sticked to the acoustic cd they recorded in yokahama..

Nick
