Realistically, I'd say the WW numbers are probably around 125 mil. all together.

Album sales don't really interest me, it's the quality of the music that counts. Albums that I like are very rarely the best sellers anyway.

Bon Jovi was bigger in the 00s, but Aerosmith was (a lot) bigger in other decades.

Aerosmith cancelled shows in 1998, but it was due to Tyler's knee ligament injury. They played more than 400 shows during the Get a Grip/Nine Lives tours.

Also their 90s albums were bigger than Bon Jovi.
Get a Grip, released in the Grunge era, was a monster hit (7x Platinum). While "Keep the Faith" and "These Days" were commercial failures there. "Nine Lives" wasn't really big, but still 2x Platinum. And don't forget their biggest hit: I Don't Want to Miss a Thing.
Just Push Play was as big as Have a Nice Day or Lost Highway.

When you compare two bands, you should include everything. Not only the last two or three years.

Anyway, we are going off-topic. End of discussion.

Best regards.
That is not accurate. Aerosmith cancelled shows in 94 or 95 due to poor ticket sales. I know. I had tickets to one of the shows cancelled.

Just Push Play didn't sell as well as either HAND or Lost Highway.

As someone else said, Bon Jovi beat the hell out of Aerosmith in the 80's. I'll give Aerosmith the nod in the 90's, but not by much. I would hardly call Keep The Faith (2 million) or These Days (1 million) commercial failures. In the 00's, it's no contest.

And again, considering Aerosmith has a good 11 years on Bon Jovi, has released numerous greatest hits, box sets and live albums, shouldn't they be ahead of Bon Jovi?

That proves what I said. KTF and TD are my two favourate Bon Jovi albums and they didn't sell anywhere near as well as some of the others. About total sales for Aerosmith you might have a point. They have been around longer and released countless GH albums, although I think Bon Jovi have a bigger worldwide fan base so who knows?

I don't know what show are you talking about. Please post the location and date.
By the end of the tour, the album already sold six million copies in the US.

And I really doubt it was in 1995, because they didn't tour during '95-'96 (except two club dates).

Just Push Play went Platinum. Just like the two Bon Jovi releases.

If we were in 1989, yes. But actually, 80s Aerosmith albums are selling more than the Bon Jovi ones.

Until December 31st, 1989:

Greatest Hits - 4x Platinum
Rock in a Hard Place - Gold
Permanent Vacation - 2x Platinum
Pump - Platinum

Bon Jovi - Platinum
7800º Fahrenheit - Platinum
Slipper When Wet - 9x Platinum
New Jersey - 5x Platinum

Until today:

Greatest Hits - 11x Platinum
Rock in a Hard Place - Gold
Done with Mirrors - Gold
Classics Live! - Platinum
Classics Live! Vol. 2 - Gold
Permanent Vacation - 5x Platinum
Gems - Gold
Pump - 7x Platinum

Bon Jovi - 2x Platinum
7800º Fahrenheit - Platinum
Slippery When Wet - 12x Platinum
New Jersey - 7x Platinum

80s Aerosmith albums outsold 80s Bon Jovi albums. Bon Jovi only shipped 6 million 80s albums since January 1st, 1990.

They were one of the biggest bands in the world by 1989 and, three years later, they were doing only a little better than FireHouse or Extreme. These Days sold a little more than 600,000 copies (worse than Bounce).
Note: I'm talking about the US market; worldwide it was totally different luckily.

Right.

Only if the materal is better.

Kiss released a lot of compilations and live discs, but they are not bigger than Bon Jovi.

Best regards.

I don't remember the exact date. It was sometime in 93 or 94 I guess. The show was in Connecticut. They claimed it was cancelled due to weather, but that's BS. It was all over the radio that they only sold about 8,000 tickets, and the weather wasn't that bad. Jesus, I saw Bon Jovi in Connecticut in 2003 and there was damn near 2 feet of snow that fell that day. Anyways, I remember hearing on the radio afterwards, that Aerosmith had cancelled other shows on the tour right after tickets went on sale as they weren't selling well. To be fair, Aerosmith toured their butts off and people probably just had enough. Because they were never huge globally, they toured the US 4 or 5 legs on every tour.

bon jovi and aerosmith are my two favourite bands but speaking objectively, you have to say bon jovi are bigger worldwide.

aerosmith's album sales are inflated considerably by the various greatest hits compilations and live recordings they've released. jovi can also sell-out a far greater number of gigs overseas.

i can't speak for america but worldwide bon jovi are bigger, in my opinion.

Yes, they cancelled one show in the Get a Grip tour. It was in January 8, 1994. Apparently due to weather.

Did you know they played there later in August 11, 1994?

Best regards.
