I really can't believe I read that. No matter who was brought in to replace Richie, the band would never be the same again. Tico is soooo cool it would be a travesty if he left. Even Dave going would ruin it all for me. I was too young to really know about Alec so the bassist issue doesn't get me the way it does some.

Anyway, Jon already has replacements in the wings. Bobby Bandeira and Jeff Kazee anyone?

Jeff's gone though, he won't be on the next tour. Bobby and Lorenza will be according to Jeff's website, but he won't be.

Bobby Bandiera is no way near good enough to be honest. Not that the band could survive the loss of either Jon or Richie, even if a singer or guitarist of the same calibre was found.

Tico and Dave, I don't know. It would be a difficult transition and the only real way I could see them holding it together would be if Tico or David left for genuine reasons (eg. Tico decided he was just too old to do it anymore). I think the sensible decision at that time would be to call it quits entirely but, if they wanted, I reckon they could hang on a couple more years...

but why would they want to finish on what most fans would consider a 'downer'?

They'd probably push it as far as they could with the current line-up and finish on a 'high' just before they reach breaking point.

This is all my opinion though obviously and I'm not trying to say that this is what they would/should do. It's the way I'd do it if I were in their shoes.

The band is characterised by it's members to me. They are all likebale guys, that couse no real controversy, and are role models to kids; that happen to have amazing talents.

Putting another talanted musician in the line-up woud erode the Bon Jovi 'thing'.

I can't see the band without Tico, or Richie. Richie would be the most likely to leave at this point anyway with all the traumatic experiences he's having.

Slightly offtopic, I see 2 more studio albums in the band and then one MASSIVE farewell, goodnight, goodbye tour. MHO.

part of jeff 's website

it's not about a tour but about the few shows supporting Lost Highway this summer

An answer to the question on whether or not I'll be out on various dates with Bon Jovi this Summer. While I'll continue to do the JBJ/Bon Jovi acoustic stuff-promo, charity concerts, some corporate stuff-as well as participating in the Bon Jovi:Unplugged taping, I won't be doing any of the BJ shows supporting the new Lost Highway CD. The Nashville-flavored record doesn't have much keyboard work to help cover, while on the other hand, it does contain quite a bit of steel guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dobro, and a ton of guitar parts. My friends Lorenza, Bobby, and Kurt will picking up the slack for all those sounds. Fantastic musicians all. The strong Artist follows its Muse and I have been lucky to have been along for the ride as Jon and the boys have followed their expanding career path and Muses from the This Left Feels Right days thru the Have A Nice Day period..and the trail will only wind even more....can't wait for the next JK w/ BJ hike.

I don't think there will ever be that goodbye. I definitely see more solo albums and side projects, which I welcome, especially from Richie. But for the band, I think more like the Rolling Stones, basically they'll keep going until Jon dies, even if Jon has said he wouldn't.

I think as time goes on there will be less touring since that is the part none of them are in love with anymore, but I think records and solo projects will go on I think there may be times when they work with other people etc.... But I'm guessing BJ will be around awhile.

I think there will be alot of solo stuff in the future. Jon will probably have a few solo albums coming out in the years coming up, and so will Richie. Jon did say on the Box Set that he hopes to be around for another 20 years. I could see Bon Jovi being one of those bands that sticks around for a long time. Look at the Stones, they've done it. The fact that Tico and Hugh are older is a key factor though. Jon and Richie may leave in 5-10 years and tour with just those two. I could see that happening. As for right now, nah, they're safe.
