7 new songs were played out of a set of 24 songs, turns out they played more than half the new album.
i think thats terrible really, i'd say 4/5 songs at the max or you'll loose the audience

i can see where you're coming from with 'being there for the music' but i do think a good stage can make a show better, With all the screens, lights and effects!

Expecting another slippery is pointless. It's not the eighties and it would never sound the same with Jons post-2000 voice. I think they've found something in the HAND sound that fits with what we're used to from Bon Jovi.

For those who are going to the U2 later this year, tell me what they finish with as the end to the show was crap........it died, people left early and this is definitely something Jovi dont fail on.....twist and shout, one of their own songs, always a great ending. Seems to be a knew thing as Snow Patrol also finished with a weird ending in concert!
However, i look at the stage with the circular walkway..........and i compare it to the poor attempt by Jovi at Croke when Jon came out on it just twice and it was tiny, he loves to interact with the crowd so theres nout to say he cant get out there more. I wont compare the crowds as Croke was full and louder for U2 but they are from Dublin after all but the crowd knew the new stuff and didnt use poor ones for toilet breaks......unlike the lost highway songs on the last tour.
The Wembley stage in 05 had stuff like i mentioned before, this just adds to the show. To talk about Bono's voice is interesting as there has been plenty of people who have moaned that Jon has lost it though personally I thought it sounded great last tour. As for the last albums, again i remember comments of how rubbish the stuff is the boys are producing nowadays......LH, TLFR, Bounce etc (I ignored Have a Nice Day as i think its ok), people on this site not going to buy it any more. If Bonjovi are such a big band compared to U2 why do the numbers not match up. I would much prefer Bonjovi to be bigger than U2, in fact that would really rub Bono's nose in it but currently U2 are still bigger......probably the biggest in the world.......maybe the Stones would be the only ones to pip them.
All I want is Richie rifting the big guitars on new 'classics', with great lyrics from Jon, every album needs one. Look at Snow Patrol album, one song that will be played in bars for years to come = Chasing cars, The Killers last album poor but Human will be played for ages, Kings of Leon will be Sex on Fire (though thought this was a great album).............i can go on. Bonjovi......you hear Prayer or Its My life.............certainly nout from the last number of recent albums. I await the new album with anticipation but we have been promised a big rock record for a while and it hasnt appeared..........big album, big show. Agreed that they dont need a spider for a stage (although spectacular) but what we dont need either is a violinist up there with a rock n roll band (unless like yokohama 03 which was great despite their colds!)
the killers, snow patrol, kings of leon etc... are YOUNG bands

You do realise that when bon jovi were that age they'd put out slippery when wet which went on to sell well over 10 million copies...

IF any of those bands wind up with 20-30 year careers i seriously doubt they'll still be putting out more mr brightsides and crack the shutters.

In fact, jovi diversifying is what's allowed them to stay huge when most of their peers from the 80s stayed in a rut and are now jokes.

And for the record, I thought the moving screens on the LH Tour was one of the best stage setups I've seen.

U2 aren't that great, music-wise. They know how to put up a show, but like I said in the U2 topic; if U2 didn't have the stage and stuff they'd come across as a pretty poor live band.

Also; new Bon Jovi albums piss over new U2 albums anytime. The songs from No Line On The Horizon are pretty wank and all sound the same in a live environment. It's only when U2 start playing the classics that a crowd wakes up because U2 don't have any album tracks like Just Older or Blood On Blood that a crowd loves.

Salaam Aleikum,

I pick my jaw up off the floor and agree with you Seb.

I havent rated U2 since the early days, now its all lights and no action.

AC/DC had the best stage effects out of all the shows I've seen this year. Rising platforms, lights, you name it. However, they also put on a great show so it's not as if it was all there to make up for the lack of good music.

U2 however would be plain boring without all the effects and stuff because all of there songs sound the same when played live in my opinion. Not a great band at all however, they do have some catchy songs.

Jovi need to put on better shows aswell. Or at least try and entertain us all a bit! I was dissapointed with the LH tour because the stage looked great and everything but it was all just a bit bland for me. Especially when they played Lost Highway tracks! And I agree, ditch the violin player, ditch bobby or whatever his face is - and get back out there with a good rocking album which can take us back to the good old days! With more stage effects!

I actually thought the stage for LH was pretty cool, and HAND too. Though the best is definitely the OWN tour.

So far though Hickstar you want Jovi to sound like Kings Of Leon and put on a stage show like U2. What's next, you want them to mime like Britney?

No thanks to any of it. I'll take the band I saw playing on the LH tour with just a few more of the songs they started playing then.

I never saw the OWN tour so I'm just curious, what was so great about it? From all the boots/tv things I saw, it didn't seem like anything special. Just the fake elevator intro and that was it. Like I said, I wasn't there.

My all time fav is the HAND tour. That slow moving screen opening the show absolutely blew me away.
