It's strange - I think Crush is incredibly weak, but I love Mystery Train, and I like Just Older and Two Story Town.
There is very little else on that album that does it for me including Its My Life.

The 80's suff is, well 80's (although Slippery and especially Jersey transcend the 80's style to a point)
Since Prayer is being played on the radio every day and Lost Highway has bombed from the start, it's safe to assume that everyone will have forgotten Lost Highway within 2 years, but will always remember Slippery. Lost Highway has zero classic songs, no songs you instantly liked/loved and just wanted to play over and over, even after the newness wore off.

Just because it has the eighties sound on it doesn't mean it can't be timeless.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

There is a world of difference between liking a song and it being timeless. Prayer is liked, in the main, because it's a big, fun rock song. People like to turn up the radio and remember when they first heard it back in '86. It's more a nostalgia trip than anything. If Prayer had only just been written and released by any of the new bands, it would bomb. Of course Slippery will be remembered forever, it sold a shed load of copies, but that doesn't mean it's very current.

Whole Lotta Leavin is my only favorite and the only one that I am excited to hear live. ONE freakin song from an entire album <sigh>

Though I have to say that WGIGO has won me over live. I hated it on the album - maybe not hated but it didn't do much for me.

I know, but disagree about the nostalgia trip. It's still being played everywhere, and not only because people remember what it was like in the eighties. If that'd be true, it would not be played on radio stations that play hits only and focus on the teenagers. Most songs that are considered timeless would not chart if they'd be released now, no matter how good they are. While Livin' On A Prayer isn't current, it is timeless nonetheless.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I agree with that Statement, Prayer and Wanted are the two 80's hits that seem timeless, to me anyway.

Bounce really does have some great songs on it. The flow could have been better though. In fact the only song on it I despise is Open All Night.

I just want to clarify something:
Of course I think Prayer is timeless. Hell, I think all of Jersey, and most of Slippery are timeless, and will never be forgotten. Hence why I said they sound much less 80's then the first two records. I just want to make that clear.
BTW to awnser your question: Summertime Make A Memory, Whole Lot of Leavin', Any Other Day.

IMO, These Days is timeless. It is thier most accomplished record (my personal favourite, love it so much!) and has hardly aged at all.

I think Bounce on the other hand has aged badly already, it sounds so empty and cold. There's not many tracks i choose to listen to either - only really Love Me Back To Life and The Distance, although Undivided sound HUGE live.

Crush is the good all rounder, with only a few stinkers (Save The World, Mystery Train and the terrible UK bonus track).

I personally really liked Have A Nice Day. I thought it was a great pop album, full of 'singles', maybe this is why it feels a bit shallow? But why Dirty Little Secret never made it as a proper album track i'll never know, it's the greatest track on the disc!

As for Lost Highway, i ADORE Lonely (i love the melody and the vocals sound awesome) but i really don't get on with the rest (except Any Other Day). Some are boring (Till We Aint Strangers Anymore, Lost Highway), some are so inconspicuous that I sometimes forget they are there (Everybody's Broken, Seat Next To You, The Last Night, One Step Closer), and there are a couple of real stinkers (We Got It Goin On, Summertime).
