I was surprised too. Beeing a fan since the 7800 days I was very pleased with the progression of the band (four great albums in a row).
At that time Real Life was the worst Jovi song I`ve heard so far (didn`t know then there were lots of this quality coming).
I remember buying the cd-single at a car wash station & listening to it in the car. My wife & son looking at me and smiling, asking if this was the new Take That. Horrible song, same category as Thank You For Loving Me, Save The World, IML, Everyday, All About Loving You & so many others nowadays.

Okay, thanks all. To me, I love it. It's got this beatles-y sound, and that bridge where Jon and Richie go all out harmonizing, wow. But if it was the first song I'd heard after a 4 year period of no new material...yah. haha.

Oh believe me Matt, I was over the moon to just hear a new band song, no matter what. It didn't get a lot of airplay in the States, so once I bought the soundtrack and got to really listen to it, I loved it.

Very poor!
I'm sure if it hadn't been released for the film that it wouldn't have made a Bon Jovi album.

Dissapointed, couldn't care anything about it while I was very enthustiac about it. (before actual release)
Looking back at it now, that was just the intro into Crush.... I remember thinking it was just a soundtrack, was always different sounding. Oh boy how wrong I was...

I can see where you get that link from (passed me by it untill now, so ta)

Edit: I did like the instrumental version

I don't know if I believe that. Pretty much ALL the SS songs were released, with the exception of Good ain't good enough and Shadow Dancing.

For me it was a bit different, I was pretty much getting into music when the band released Always, and I at 9 years old liked the song and bought the Crossroad album (saved it myself, first record I bought weeee!!) but the wait didn't seem all that long to me since I had all the band albums to buy through that time and put that together with all the new (and old) music that I was discovering and learning how to play, plus growing up and getting throught pre adolescence I guess I didn't even wait at all.
But I do however classify myself as a pre-crush fan.
But it just ain't the same as other old-scholl fans on here.

oh and while I loved the song to bits and pieces, the novelty wore off pretty quickly.
