I'm not saying I agree with the list but I think you all are missing some of the elements that went into making this list in your "where's Bon Jovi?" frenzy. I only watched the episode of the 1-20 artists but most of the time they talked about not only the music but how their music was influential and the art of their stage presence, effect they had on future musicians and pop culture in addition to the music and songwriting. If Bon Jovi's career bodywork was only from 1983-2000, their catalog would look better to outsiders, IMO.
Would I have put Bon Jovi in there? Yeah, for sure but using VH1's criteria, I don't think they have any place maybe near the top 30.

And many lists will continue that way. Most of the artists gaining fame these days will never hold a candle to many of the artists on this list.
Also, it's not like Bon Jovi's glory days were figuratively yesterday
