Don't be so dismissive, I'm entitled to my opinion just like you are. The "pinnacle" of Bon Jovi is subjective. No, I said they're better than anything except Runaway, because in my opinion, they are. Pre Slippery Jovi sound extremely dated, whilst Slippery and NJ still sound 80s the songs are much more timeless than anything on BJ and 7800 and that's why those songs have stood the test of time and still get played, unlike anything (bar runaway) from BJ and 7800.

9pt] Shot Through The Heart
8pt] Get Ready
7pt] Roulette
6pt] She Don't Know Me
5pt] Love Lies
4pt] Burning For Love
3pt] Runaway
2pt] Breakout
1pt] Come Back

I think this is the Bon Jovi album I listen to least. That doesn't mean the songs are bad. Most of them are actually way better than a lot of their post 2000 material. I think it's a silly concept that anyone actually thinks that Who Says is better than any song on this album. Sure the album sounds dated but when you think of the actual songs.. the melodies, the guitarwork etc. The songwriting and arrangements are way more interesting than say.. most of The Circle.

I see we've already began a pre-1986, post-2000 BJ debate. I must say, i listen to this album in it's entirely far more than i do most of their post-2000 material. I believe i actually ranked this album above Bounce, Lost Highway, and The Circle. Say what you will about lyrical maturity, those releases don't match the raw power of the debut record, even if Bon Jovi had yet to find their signature sound.

09 Runaway
08 Shot Through The Heart
07 Roulette
06 Love Lies
05 She Don't Know Me
04 Burning For Love
03 Come Back
02 Breakout
01 Get Ready

The only 2 tracks that don't quite gel for me are the final 2 listed here. Both however have grown on me over time and i did quite enjoy the few times they played Get Ready live on their last tour. Still, it's always felt very out of place on the album, as if it was just tacked on afterwards. I'll never tire of Runaway, regardless of how over played it might be. It's a shame they've buried STTH with the rest of the album though, as it's an absolutely killer track.

1(st): Runaway (surprise surprise - though it deserves number one any year it's rated)
2(nd): Shot Through the Heart (damned to hell be those who believe this song contains the lyrics "I play my part, and you play your game")
3(rd): She Don't Know Me (it may be a cover song, but it's a damn good one! )
4: Breakout
5: Roulette
6: Burning for Love
7: Get Ready
8: Love Lies
9: Come Back

9. Runaway
8. Get Ready (heard it live in 88, loved it ever since; such a great live rock song)
7. Shot Through The Heart
6. Burning For Love
5. Roulette
4. She Don´t Know Me
3. Breakout
2. Love Lies
1. Come Back

Apart from the first two songs on my list, I could have actually put the songs in any order imaginable. The last 4 on my list are completely interchangeable. I think the album is reasonably solid yet it lacks particular highlights apart from Runaway and to a lesser extent, Get Ready.

Who´s the girl on the album cover? (Someone once claimed it was Dorothea).

Pretty much this. I don't like this record because I don't like it. It has nothing to do with my age. Hell, my favorite Bon Jovi record was released in 1988, and my favorite record of all time was released in 1975, I'm no ageist.

Anyway:
9. Roulette
8. Get Ready
7. She Don't Know Me
6. Runway
5. Breakout
4. Shot Through The Heart
3. Love Lies
2. Burning For Love
1. Come Back

It's not quite as bad as 7800, but it's still something I barely listen to. In fact, this is probably my most interchangeable set of rankings, since I don't think any of the tracks are that good. In fact, it's the only Bon Jovi album that doesn't have at least one great song IMO.

My least favourite BJ album. Still not totally bad, it just misses some spark... the next effort, "ahrenheit", was much more interesting, even if it still wasn't the BJ sound. Anyhow, the songs of the debut were all killer live! They had some incredible strenth back then, which wasn't translated to record imo-

It contains two standout tracks imo (the first 2 obviously), the rest is average, stuff like "Get Rady" was much better live, same as "Breakout". I can't really stand the bottom 2.

9. Runaway
8. Shot Through The Heart
7. Roulette
6. Burning For Love
5. Come Back
4. Breakout
3. Get Ready
2. She Don't Know Me
1. Love Lies
