Yes, this record sounds dated, but I like the kind of rough power. No way near as good as SWW and NJ but much better than Fahrenheit.

I have to be honest, i really ain't that big of a fan of this album. It's good, and has some brilliant guitar work at times, but it just doesn't do much for me anymore

I like this album. The songwriting may not quite be there consistently yet (and it is astonishingly front loaded, IMO there is a massive drop in the quality of songs after STTH, with only Come Back really shining after that), and it is sorely lacking in the classic Jon/Richie vocal harmonies (as is 7800). But there's not really any other Bon Jovi album that treads such a fine line between youthful vigour and emotion, or between 80s pop songwriting and such frantically unhinged guitar work. It's easy to see IMO how the band progressed from this album to the 80s masterpiece that is New Jersey
