And we thought we had to be something else, we had to chase that, hanging around with those kind of kids, L.A. and finding your sisters make-up and all that goofy stuff we used to do . This isn’t really where we’re from or what we do, but ok. We came home and wrote a record called SWW, and the album cover is a hefty garbage bag squirted with water and I took my fingers and wrote Slippery When Wet and that was one of the biggest selling albums of all time. Why? Because we came home. We did what we do naturally.

Nothing new there. I have interviews from the mid/late 1980's where Jon said the same thing. He hasn't changed that for the sake of the times. I remember one in particular where he said something about putting on your sister's makeup would get your ass kicked in Jersey.

what exactly are you saying Becky? I mean - of course there were people who didn't like the whole poser image and I don't doubt that those people were also in NJ. The fact that some people thought it was girly to wear the sisters make-up is not what I am taking issue with.
What I am taking issue with is the apparent denial Jon is in. Or as Mimi phrased it better - he is securing his image, negating his 'rocker' past.
