I think the original was done by Roy Head, and if you want to hear a bit of how Jon sounds when he sings it, there are versions out there of him and Bruce Springsteen performing it with Southside Johnny and Bobby Bandiera. It's a good upbeat song, not bad as choice for a cover song.
