The reason for that is because Jon and management are trying to capture a universal audience. The problem with this is that by doing so Bon Jovi, as both a band and brand, loses its connection with audiences as its appeal is overextended and becomes unfocused. Jon is trying to be too many things to too many people all at once and he is loosing touch with his fan-base by doing so.

They need to release something that is fresh and innovative while very 'Bon Jovi'. Nobody knows what type of music or fan Bon Jovi represents any more. Are they Country or are they Rock? This is why I think 'Love Is The Only Rule' should have been the first singe off The Circle. It would have been both a definite statement to what the band can do and is doing while still being relevant. Instead, we got an overly safe and bland single in We Weren't Born To Follow.

Jon is loosing himself in cliches. This is also my problem with 'What Do You Got'. It's stale and boring. It's not a game changer for the band. I sincerely believe that at this stage of the band's career, loosing themselves in the overly pleasant sea of monotony is the worst thing they can be doing right now.

After KTF, there isn't a single album where it's worth to play more than 4 songs from, per concert.
By saying 6-7 songs per night of course I meant only on The Circle Tour. This is/was called TC Tour so a proper number of songs should be there to promote the album every show. When I look at the set lists from TD Tour for example it seems they played most of the album every night. And that’s how it should look like. But this year when they reached Europe it was barely 3 songs from the new album. It’s far from enough in my opinion. Very sad. And it seems it will not get any better and by the time they reach Australia the tour will probably turn into The Greatest Hits Tour and it will be even less. Anyway we will find out in the next couple of days how it’s going to be in South America.

For those who love the album, I wish the band would come up with some sort of idea of having for example 2 shows - one in US and one in Europe next year where they would guarantee that they will play The Circle album in full (just like they did with LH) plus some old hits. This could be held in a small arena just to make sure they will sell it out and that it includes the audience of die-hards only. I am sure there are loads of fans who’d love that and this thread proves that. And knowing that the band loves the album and is proud of it they would enjoy that kind of shows for sure too, knowing that the audience gets into the TC songs instead of going for a beer or to the bathroom. I’d go to any city in Europe just for that one concert without any doubts, no matter the costs. One show per continent is not much to ask for. And that one time “The Circle Night” would be a perfect tribute for this amazing album.

I don't know why so many people hate Bullet. Of course, it isn't the best song on the album. But I like it alot. It actually has good lyrics, and I love the guitar work. It is more Bon Jovi than some other recent stuff. It could've been a well doing single if released in the right order.

I would like to see a not-so-popular songs show. A show with no Prayer, Bad Name, Wanted, nothing. As much as I love those songs, you can hear them at any of their concerts. Anyway, this would be a concert with songs like Damned, These Days, TIMS, OWN, Wild Is The Wind, Any Other Day, Bells of Freedom, I could go on. It's a very long shot and probably would never happen, but I would love to go.

1. The chorus is wack and weak.

2. They should advertise it if it ever happens, that way it will not piss people off.

I think 4 songs are enough from the new album, 5 tops. I had the misfortune of hearing 8 HAND song during HAND tour. Overkill. Even though I think HAND is their best album post KTF.

Now if they want to play the entire album to stroke their ego, it's fine as long as they announce it ahead of time so that only those who love the album will go.

It sold poor because they don't get airplay.
How many dull songs are big hits just cause they get played over and over on radio?

Poor sales figures = related to poor airplay.
Is a song like IML better than WWBTF ? I don't think so, but one got a great video & killer airplay, the other didn't. Hence, no one knows it and no one buys it.

Love this thread and it's great to see that I'm not the only one who thinks The Circle is the best album since These Days.

The thing is, what I, and others, expect and want from the band and what the mainstream public expects and wants from the band are two seperate things.

I feel the same way about that album.
