As for Alec/Hugh, all evidence suggests that Hugh was involved (in some capacity) on every studio record except 7800. Personally, I think he did a majority of the playing. Honestly, I've always thought it was less about Alec making mistakes, and more about him having a personal issue with Jon, with JBJ basically saying "You don't play on the records anyway, you're fired." Alec wouldn't want to come out and say that, as it would be embarrassing to admit, and Jon wouldn't because it blows a huge hole in the brotherhood myth.

I think they were all arguing about the sound system cutting out, or their monitors blowing.

I love how that segment is edited, it's very funny. All the band are hyper and moaning about the sound blowing out and how much of a disaster the show was, but it then keeps cutting over to fan interviews from the same gig all saying how it was the best show ever, sounded amazing etc etc. Oh, and it was Dublin too

Yeah....but at some point Tico mimes playing the bass and shouts at Alec "Neh Neh Neh neh - kept going!" And Alec says "That's what's supposed to..." something something.

Maybe overly interpreting there, but the first time I saw Access All Areas I thought Alec must have screwed up, without even knowing the story behind the whole issue...

Ha, yeah I love that bit. Richie is like ''I heard what the kids were hearing, it sounded like dick!'' Tico shouts something ''Hey listen to me brother! I brough it right the f*ck down!'' then mimics Alec playing on lol

It sounds like a whole sound failure, not Alec's fault by any means.

I think (and that fits with what Hugh had on his website and with what was discussed here before) that he played on Runaway (confirmed), but not on the rest of Bon Jovi and 7800 Fahrenheit (that's what I read into it and what would make sense IMHO), and then played on every album since Slippery When Wet and tours since 1994/1995...

Yeah you're right but him ****ing up would have been from monitors blowing, not his own playing.

I heard someone say that Alec was a good enough player, he just wasn't good at coming up with / writing good or interesting basslines, hence why Hugh was playing on the records. I think that's pretty feasible. I'm not sure what went down to get Alec out of the band, though.

For the record, I liked Alec's playing, but his voice ****ing ruined everything. Versions of Bad Name are the worst offenders. That falsetto-esque ridiculously-high-pitched voice was is not welcome to my ears.
