Do I believe Jon and the official statement? Why should I? Ask yourself this; If Richie had quit the band mid-tour would you expect the band or their management to be honest and admit to it? No, therefore any excuse they give cannot be trusted. They've given no information at all.
If it was rehab, he's been in before and people would probably just roll their eyes and say, 'here we go again.' They didn't try to hide it previously so why would they this time?
All of this cloak and dagger stuff only adds fuel to the speculation and if they cared at all about their credibility or the fans, they'd offer up at least the nature of the reason if not specifics. They aren't even giving that though, and for people who bought tickets, travel and accommodation to see the 'band', I can totally understand why there is a demand for more information.

I donīt agree with your "People who've forked out hundreds or even thousands of $$ deserve at least that much".
If you (I know itīs not your case) wasted a lot of money in tickets, flyin, I donīt think that make you deserve details about the personal issue. What you deserve itīs the truth of the story and a refund option. I think the official information it`s true: Richie is out cause a personal matter (adiction/disease/psychology problem) and the band support him till he returns.
And about the refond, I really donīt know how it works really, but I hope the people who donīt want to attend at thier shows can get the refund without any problem. Otherwise, thatīs the only reason to have the right of bitchin the official camp IMO.
