I don't care for most of These Days. The "depth" in the writing is still pretty shallow all things considered; Jon's gray summer stuff was a lot better with that kinda stuff (he is not particularly good at social commentary!). Lyrics nonwithstanding, I also don't really enjoy a record full of midtempo stuff (people give Bounce shit for that, but never TD). There's great stuff on there, but not a full album's worth. I SAID IT

I think that - musically - Santa Fe is rather bland and boring. If it wasn't for the vocals punching out the lyrics, it'd be a song quickly forgotten.

It never made their set list. There has to be a good reason JB has more or less neglected the song from the beginning. It was probably written for them by DC and AC and it made the album only because the record company said so. I don’t recognize JB’s or RS’s handwriting at all.

Yet I kind of like it. It’s stereotypical and a bit boring but I enjoy listening to it every now and then.
