Obie did say that he tried to avoid songs we have already heard - even if we've got them on bootleggs.
I think most of the songs may well be from the 90's because it was only during this time that Jon had his studio which would mean songs from that period are more 'secure'.
Stuff they've recorded in other studios were more likely to get into the wrong hands.

Well said. We, the bootleg collecting public, have LOADS of NJ/SWW demos. If he'd of put those on the box set, the people who have them would complain. If he didn't, the people would wish for clearer versions. You CANNOT win.

Yeah, I was confused by that either, But then they said it's not reliable info after all. But that is very weird. Maybe it's one of those bonus tracks that are never listed on CDs?

Thanks Becky for the article though. Very interesting, and most of them are probably right anyway.

Now I wonder whether the booklet will include the dates of the songs. That would be nice

I have to assume they're the demos that Jon recorded. The same sessions that produced Hush and Stay.

Here is Obie's answer:

Question:
According to the info on billboard.com, it appears there are only 2 or 3 songs on the boxset that are from the 80s. Is this true or are there going to be more songs on the boxset from that era? I know you said that info wasn't correct but Im still curious about this. Thanks!! Can't wait till next month!
asked by Chris on Wednesday, October 6, 2004
Answer:
Listen. Listen to me speak. Those dates are not correct. I'm the only one who knows the correct dates of all these songs because I'm the only one who went thru the boxes and wrote down everything. There are more songs from the 80s than those marked there. As we keep telling you, we'll give you info on the songs when the box set is released but I can tell you this now: Billboard is WRONG. I don't know who gave them that misinformation but it makes me crazy. Believe me, you will lose your mind when you listen to this box set in its entirety - if you haven't already lost your mind.
