GREAT THANKS!!! I was just about to say that you had to find that song, I love "old" songs like that. Gotta hear it too now.
Btw reading a lyric while listing to another song is VERY hard haha

No doubt! Kind of like when I'm listening to a basketball game via the internet, but I have a football game on TV with the sound turned down. Very confusing!

If you listen to George & Tammy, be prepared for twang. That's hard core, old school country, not the new-fangled stuff being called country today!

Yeah I listend to a Bowie consert at radio, he played Heros and I was reading sad country lyrics

I liked the song, thanks for posting! Love the old country sound. You might not think so, but I'm a big fan of Hank Williams, Gram Parson, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, the list goes on.

George & Tammy fit right in with that crowd! I'm glad you liked it. Kathleen's story made it pop right into my head, and I can't even imagine how long it's been since I last heard it.

I love JT!
Thanks a lot, I'll try to listen to some more of them. I've heard their names, but not any of their music.

Here's the song I mentioned. Tom Waits - Hold On, one of my all time favourite songs! It has a nice countryfeel to it too, so we're not to off our sub topic

Thanks for that! It's really very similar to so much of the old country music, isn't it? Just more gravel and less twang.

George Jones was never my favorite (liked Tammy better), but this is a great one -

Yes it is. No doubt it's a countrysong. It has the story, the sound, the feel, even the video But as usual Tom spins the song in his universal web and they sound like a Tom Waits song. However amazing song, came to think of it because of Kathleens story.

Edit: The second George Jones wasn't my cup of tea. Decent song, nothing more, nothing less.

Cherry says she's gonna walk 'cause she found out I took her radio and hocked it
But Eddie man, she don't understand
That two grand's practically sitting here in my pocket
And tonight's gonna be everything that I said
When I walk through that door I'm just gonna throw that money on the bed
She'll see this time I wasn't just talking....

That's Bruce Springsteen, btw, for all of you who don't listen to anything but Bon Jovi.

Wows thanxs Steve!
I had no idea it meant all that til now
