LOL! Now there's an interesting side project if ever I heard one!

That's Bruce Springsteen, btw, for all of you who don't listen to anything but Bon Jovi.
That's "Meeting Across the River" (that's my river he's talking about - the Hudson). People used to go into New York City from here to hock (or pawn stuff) all the time. It's not done much any more - which may be good. There is more money around and people aren't so desperate.

That song segues into Jungleland and it one of the best "one - two" punches at a concert in all of rock and roll.

Maybe the pawnshops moved south, Kathleen. We have lots of them here, including a relatively new one just a few blocks away. I guess that gives away that I don't live in a "posh" area, huh?

It's possible that many have moved South Terri. We used to have them all over the place - especially in NYC. Certainly there are more of them in the areas that haven't been gentrified but there are still fewer of them than there used to be.

I used to poke around in them like antique stores because I could buy more for my buck. It wasn't just things like jewelry and guitars that got pawned - it was furniture, lamps etc. As a starving student you could pick up the basics pretty cheap. I think Craigslist has become the modern day's cheap way to furnish a house. LOL
