Yes it does. Madonna could do the same but would be bashed because she's a pop queen. Jon writes such a song and lots of people jump on the bandwagon because he's sooooooo right while a lot of those people listen to the sh1t Jon describes. Including Jon himself. Something that makes the song less honest.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

When HEY GOD was realeased all critics said it's fake because BJ are multi-millionaires and they can't sing about poverty and starvation. The song might be seen as NOT HONEST. Still I believe it's a damn great song. One of the best in BJ's history.

Same with LAST MAN STANDING.

I can't remember anything the critics wrote about Hey God, I think you made that up. Why can't a multimillionaire write about poverty and starvation? It's not like they live in a world where such things don't happen.

You're comparing things with eachother that aren't the same.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I agree with Seb here we are not asking or questionning the band about every lyrics of every songs .. you can write Hey God being totally honest toward rthe lyrics and being multi millionaire ... it's not the same thing than the Last Man Standing lyrics which are about music business a very very specific world .. I do think that the lyrics are great but I also think they don't really fit to the image that Jon is exposing lately ... is he really working like Bob Dylan is he really the Last Man Standing ? I don't think so ... while the idea is great the attitude doesn't really FIT with the lyrics ...let's say not totally .. ok bon jovi don't lip synch and don't dance on stage but beside this is it that different .. is it that a good old fashionned way of promoting and making music ? I don't say Jon is totally dishonest but I don't think he is not really honest neither ... I don't care or praise about a band just because it is working like Bob dylan it's not my idea it's not my lyrics I am not that demanding about that but if we want to discuss the lyrics yes we have some good things to talk about .... I for myself would not have talk about LMS because the song make me feel umconfortable but if you want to talk about it ok ...

I think Jon is honest in Hey God and he is less honest with LMS (which is a great song though) I feel like we are slightly manipulated with LMS.. but the song remain a great song talking about music business

Hey God talks to me way more though ... the thema talks to me way more than the problem of integrity in the music business

if you grew up in poverty or have been through it - maybe. But not if you grew up middle class and turned millionaire - I just don't see how anyone could relate. Sure, you read stuff in the news and every once in a while when you take a wrong exit off the freeway, you might see a homeless person, but it's not experience and it doesn't come from the heart. I like Hey God, but half of those lyrics give me the chills and not the good ones. I think they sound phoney. IMO.

I agree with what you write spunky I mean I understand what you mean ...but you don't have to be starved to kill ppl or to go through terrible things and being though emotionnaly touched by the unfairness of the world and want to write Hey God

I don't need to have a close friend killed by gun to feel like the world is going crazy .. I didn't suffer directly but i still suffer and i am still honesty with the fact I am disgusted ...
